Members of IATSE Local B-192 are informing fellow Universal Studios Hollywood workers about our right to strike 🪧

After almost a year of bargaining, it is clear that Universal refuses to make much progress toward meeting our proposals for fair wages and benefits. Universal is still holding onto their proposals for net-of-inflation pay cuts ✂️📉 even after their theme parks made $2.4 BILLION last quarter 📈 and as their workers continue to sleep in their cars.

Why should Universal Studios workers have to struggle paycheck to paycheck?

We are always told by Universal executives that we can cut expenses, be more frugal, work harder, smile more, and complain less. But now we’re telling them that they can treat their workers with more fairness & respect, and agree to a contract that reflects our true value to the company.

For every Universal executive bringing home six or seven figures, there are countless workers who don’t have high enough wages and/or hours to afford basic housing and healthcare.

Now more than ever, with rising inflation and cost of living, with coworkers struggling to afford medication, Universal must pay ! We are fighting for wage increases that beat inflation!

Every single one of us deserves to be able to build personal stability in exchange for the hard work and value we create for Universal’s six-and-seven figure executives. Instead, Universal executives like Scott Strobl insists on trapping us economically in jobs that don’t pay us enough and break us down mentally.

So we’re going public with our demand: ! We need wage increases that are well above the rate of inflation!

Universal Studios workers of IATSE Local B-192 working in Wardrobe are demanding !

The wage proposals that Universal executives are countering with remain well below the rate of inflation. As it stands currently, we are facing consecutive net-of-inflation pay cuts for the next few years. Yet Universal claims we are getting raises. ⁉️🤨

Workers across Universal Studios departments are already struggling to make ends meet. We can’t afford to go backwards in our wages, hours and benefits. 📉🚫

HHN is around the corner, but the real horror is the way Universal treats its workers. Without guaranteed hours and stagnant wages, Universal workers are increasingly stressed about their economic futures. The economy is getting worse and the mental turmoil on workers is horrifying.

For the amount of hard work and prosperity that we generate for Universal executives like Scott Strobl, we deserve wage raises that exceed inflation and more hours to bring home enough money for a peace of mind.

Retail workers already do not get adequate hours to make a living, and are punished further with reduced hours. Universal Studios Hollywood with their last quarter revenue of $2 billion can afford to pay workers more, but chooses to scapegoat workers for low sales, make them suffer with less hours and deny them dignity.

We demand wages that exceed inflation and more hours to keep up with the rising cost of living.

If Universal Studios Hollywood proceeds to give us net-of-inflation pay cuts, every aspect of our lives will become more of a struggle. We won’t be able to keep up with the rising cost of living. We may fall short on rent and be displaced further away from where we work, increasing our commute time and reducing the time we have for themselves and our loved ones.

Yet Universal Studios Hollywood is poised to proceed with net of inflation pay cuts, despite making $2 billion last quarter. We won’t stand for this.

! We as Local B-192 members deserve dignity and living wage! ✊
