IDHSNA Registrar Official Page for the Registrar of Irish Draught Horse Society of North America (IDHSNA). We maintain this website and run an active page for members.

THE IRISH DRAUGHT HORSE SOCIETY OF NORTH AMERICA

The Irish Draught Horse Society of North America (IDHSNA) was established in 1993 and has faithfully maintained the studbooks of both purebred and part-bred Irish Draught horses within North America since that time. We strive for an active membership by encouraging participation in year-end awards, IDHSNA sponsored shows and classes and actively wo

rking with national equestrian organizations to promote our breed. We aim to strengthen the Irish Draught breed in North America, so we diligently hold inspections with judges from Ireland to ensure the breed remains true to type. The foundation for any society is its members, and we believe in keeping our membership informed. We have a monthly newsletter to keep members up to date on issues, and to celebrate personal victories. We have the annual Blarney to recap the highs and lows of the previous year, and it includes the herd list to gauge the health of our herd. The breeders and owners of Irish Draught horses in North America are proud and dedicated to the breed. The IDHSNA is a not-for-profit entity and has been run by a volunteer board since its inception. Membership in the Society offers a variety of benefits and programs while supporting the maintenance and growth of the studbooks. Please join us as a member!

SOCIETY OBJECTIVES
Foster an appreciation and understanding of the purebred Irish Draught Horse through educating the public about Irish Draught history and breed traits, and by promoting the contribution the purebred makes as the foundation of the internationally successful part Irish Draught Sport Horse (IDSH). Thinking of presenting a horse for the 2026 IDHSNA Inspection Tour? Now is the time to start planning.

📅 May 1 is the first critical deadline.
Paid inspection applications received by this date will be used by the Inspection Committee to help determine inspection site locations.

Submitting your application by May 1 helps ensure that inspections are placed in areas where there is sufficient interest.

Applications are still accepted after May 1; however, those received by that date play an important role in shaping the tour.

Horse not Registered? There is still time to get your complete and correct application to the Registrar in time to meet this deadline!

Thinking of presenting a horse for inspection in 2026? Now is the time to act if you would like to help influence inspection sites.

Paid inspection applications for eligible horses received by May 1st will be used by the IDHSNA Inspection Committee to help determine inspection site locations for the 2026 tour.

Applications will continue to be accepted until August 15th, however, submissions received after May 1st will not influence site selection.

To be added to the inspection roster, horses must be registered with the IDHSNA.

If your horse is not yet registered, a complete and correct registration application must be submitted to the Registrar in order for your horse to be eligible for inclusion. Please submit applications early so there is time to work with the registrar to ensure your application(s) are in order.

Avoid the last-minute rush - early planning is key, especially as some requirements involve third-party processing timelines.

🐎✨ Watch the Herd Gather - Now With ZIP CODES!

The 2026 Inspection Interest Map just got even better!

You can now:
📍 Zoom in to see ZIP codes
📍 Spot other interested owners near you
📍 Discover your “inspection neighbors”

We’re starting to see little pockets of interest form - and that’s exactly what helps the Board decide if inspection planning is viable for 2026.

If there is even the slightest possibility you might bring a horse forward this year, please respond to the Inspection Interest Survey.

There’s no obligation - but your response matters for planning.

And here’s the fun part…
👀 Take a look at your area.
Do you have ID/IDSH friends nearby?
Tag them. Call them. Text them. Encourage them to respond so we can grow the map together.

Let’s see how many “inspection neighborhoods” we can build. 🗺️💚

🗺️ Look at the Herd Gather…

The IDHSNA Inspection Interest Map continues to grow - and we’d love to see your location added!

If there is even the slightest possibility that you might consider bringing a horse (or horses) forward for inspection, please take a moment to complete the Inspection Interest Survey.

✔️ No financial obligation
✔️ No commitment required
✔️ Simply helping us gauge regional interest

The more responses we receive, the better we can plan inspection sites and grow opportunities across the country.

Find the Survey Here: https://forms.gle/XTxMFk7VZhkoMyqX6

Have Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse friends? Please share the survey and encourage them to respond. Let’s keep the map growing!

📌 Important Reminder:
Horses must be registered with the IDHSNA in order to be added to an official inspection roster.

If your horse is not yet registered, now is the perfect time to begin the process. Current registration rates remain in effect until March 15, 2026, before the scheduled fee increase.

📋 IDHSNA Application & Documentation Process Reminder

As we continue working toward timely processing and accurate herd records, this is a reminder regarding IDHSNA submission procedures.

When the Registrar receives:

• Registration applications
• Transfer of Ownership submissions
• Inspection applications
• Other official documentation and service requests

If required items are missing, applicants will receive one consolidated notice outlining what is needed to complete the submission.

It is the responsibility of the owner/applicant to ensure that all required materials are submitted for completion.

To prevent files from remaining open indefinitely, the Board has instituted a $25 stagnant file reactivation fee for registration applications that remain incomplete for six months.

This fee is entirely avoidable by submitting required materials in a timely manner.

Beginning early and responding promptly to requests helps ensure smooth processing - particularly as we move into inspection planning season.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping maintain accurate, efficient, and professional herd records across North America.
