At Flagler Free Clinic, our dental team works to provide the care available to patients who may otherwise have nowhere to turn—from fillings when a tooth can be saved to extractions when it cannot.

But there is still room to grow.

Restorative options after tooth loss are an important part of comprehensive dental care, and expanding what we’re able to offer could make an even greater difference for the people we serve.

❤️ Sometimes the most meaningful part of care is simply meeting someone where they are.

For Dr. Garrett Johnston, volunteering at Flagler Free Clinic is about more than solving a dental problem. It’s about getting to know the person sitting in the chair, understanding what they’re going through, and helping them with what they need in that moment.

One patient in particular has left a lasting impression—someone navigating both medical and dental challenges who continues to show up with an incredibly positive attitude.

As that patient nears the end of his dental treatment, Dr. Johnston admits it’s a little bittersweet.

“It’s very satisfying work.”

How far we've come. ❤️

There was a time when patients would line up, hoping there would be enough volunteer providers available to see them.

As Dr. Chiamaka Iheme shares, those early days meant difficult decisions and, at times, having to turn patients away.

Today, thanks to the incredible dedication of our volunteers, partners, donors, and community, Flagler Free Clinic has grown into a resource that serves thousands of uninsured residents with compassion and dignity.

Every step forward has been made possible by a community that believes everyone deserves access to quality healthcare.

❤️ Every organization has a moment when it begins to come into its own.

In the early days of Flagler Free Clinic, even the basics had to be built from the ground up.

After seeing 40 patients in a single Saturday, it became clear the clinic was growing. A dedicated phone number was needed. A website had to be created. And step by step, Flagler Free Clinic began building an identity and infrastructure of its own.

What started with limited resources continued to grow into the organization our community knows today—all because people saw a need and kept finding ways to meet it.
