OK so I have been coveting this witch hat stained glass lamp that Cracker Barrel put out for their Halloween collection and it quickly sold out. Well we were passing a CB today and my husband said, let’s see if they have that witch hat in store. He ran into the gift shop while I waited and he walked out with the floor model that they graciously sold to him. It’s sooooo good!

This is one of the mandrake (mandragora officinarum) roots that I grew a few years back. I figured I’d tincture one so I could add the properties easily to recipes since the actual root is so hard to keep any significant amount of. Well I stuck it in the back of the closet and forgot about it! It’s looking rather potent at this point!

Today we celebrate and remember the birthday of Gerald B. Gardner.

Today I am celebrating Gerald Brosseau Gardner (June 13, 1884 – February 12, 1964). Gerald is considered the father of the Witchcraft Revival by many, he is responsible for the proliferation of what is today known as Wicca/Wica.

More bad news. The biggest problem I see with this is this was one of the things we could cite saying that what we do is a religion and provided us with religious rights.

In 2005, Wicca was recognized as a religion by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the United States military who approved the upright Pentagram (Emblem 37) as an acceptable symbol for headstones and markers after U.S. Army Sgt, Patrick D. Stewart became the first Wiccan to die in combat.

• Harry Hay, founder of the Radical Faeries
• Eddie Buczynski, founder of multiple traditions including the NY Wica and Minoan Brotherhood, a tradition for men that love men
• Herman Slater, publisher and owner of The Warlock Shoppe and The Magickal Childe
• Scott Cunningham, author of many occult and pagan books
• Alex Sanders, High Priest that is responsible for the Alexandrian tradition
• Leo Martello, author and High Priest
• Eddy Gutiérrez, founder of the Unnamed Path which was designed for gay, q***r, and male-identifying individuals. Also a practitioner of multiple ATR's.
• Aleister Crowley, was an English occultist, philosopher, ceremonial magician, poet, painter, novelist and mountaineer. He founded the religion of Thelema
• Tarotstar, co-founder of the Sacred Pentagraph tradition and author of many books on witchcraft

Happy Pride Month from Mandragora Magika. I'd like to extend my warmest wishes to the LGBTQ+ community for a good and safe pride month. I also would like to extend those wishes to all allies! This blog talks about how we try to make MM as safe as we can, with some practical advise to the community. It also highlights some of the q***rs that have helped the Witchcraft, Wicca and Occult communities as well as specific paths accepting of LGBTQ people.

June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. Mandragora Magika proudly displays our "Gay Owned and Operated" badge on the website year round.
