Eligibility is determined by a functional assessment as opposed to linking eligibility to a specific diagnosis. A developmental disability is a disability which is attributable to: Mental Retardation/Intellectual Disability, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism, and Epilepsy, among other diagnoses. The disability can be mental or physical and must have occurred prior to age 22 and be considered lifelong in duration. Service eligibility also requires the disability to have serious impact on multiple areas of functioning. These services can be provided in the individual’s own home, with family, with a roommate, or with someone who provides full time care.
