Expounding and blessing to be thankful for: There is no remission of sins without redemption. We were captivated by sin, and couldn't be released from it, except by the remission of our sins. Through Christ's blood we have been redeemed. The blood of Jesus removed the guilt and stain of sin.
All our spiritual blessings flow down to us in that stream, and this great benefit comes to us freely, having been bought and paid for by our blessed Lord; yet it is according to the riches of God's grace. God was satisfied by Christ as our substitute and surety; but it was God's rich grace that would accept of a surety, when the law might have been executed in the severity of the law upon the transgressor, and rich grace provided a surety of God's own Son, and freely delivered him up. In this instance he has not only manifested riches of grace, but has abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence. There is wisdom in contriving the dispensation, and prudence in executing the counsel of his will. Divine wisdom and prudence have happily adjusted the matter between justice ⚖️ and mercy, in securing the honor of God and his law, and at the same time the recovery of sinners and their salvation are certain and made sure. That is a gigantic blessing to be thankful for, God's wisdom and prudence which is in the spiritual blessings that flow down to us through the blood of Christ.
