Remembering our roots.... Washington surveyed and fought in the wilderness with hopes of becoming a British officer. Hopes dashed he pursued more personal goals, yet when he was called to service, he responded. Driven by ambition, love of country and disdain for the arrogance of the entitled aristocratic Brits, he led the colonies through tenous trying times to become the first president, stayed for a second term, and retired to his beloved Mt Vernon. His time with Martha and as a gentleman farmer was brief dying after less than 3 years after retiring as President of the United States. ....... .......
