The MorFiss Foundation WE STAND FOR WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES! "Empowering Women is the greatest WEAPON in the war against poverty"
-Kofi Annan

In rural communities, infrastructure is nearly nonexistent as a result of severe levels of poverty. People’s basic needs are often unmet, which not only creates an environment ripe for communicable diseases and unsanitary practices, but also forces people to focus on survival, as opposed to ways to improve their situation. The MorFiss Foundation will assist not by giving handouts to those who requ

ire our assistance, but by helping participants take an active role in developing their communities and personal well-being. By providing educational materials, specific long term project support and resources not found in the direct community, MorFiss will empower women. Through our training and programs, our participants will shift their mindset from one driven by poverty and survival instincts to a consciousness that permits for a world of possibilities. Our goal is to empower one woman at a time, which can, in turn, empower an entire community. We believe that change can only begin with a shift in consciousness, and so we strive to begin there, changing the mindset of rural Haitian women.

Today, we salute all women, especially those with whom we've had the opportunity to work with. Our commitment to you, to the world has not seized. Together we still stand for stronger women, stronger communities and equality for all.

"Rural girls are less likely to achieve the same level of basic education as boys. If one of the children in a household has to drop out of school because of the cost of schooling or for other reasons, it is usually the girl child."-IFAD

We must empower and educate rural girls and make them less vulnerable to gender based violence.

According to UNIFEM it is estimated that women perform 66 percent of the world’s work and produce fifty percent of its food, thus it is fair to say that women in Haiti are indeed poto mitan, or “the pillars of society.”
