Today the Braselton Rotary Club caught up with Janet Whittaker, Director of Operations of Gateway Domestic Violence. Gateway provides safety, shelter and support for those impacted by domestic violence. Janet brought a beautiful art board created by those at Gateway that shares insight into their thoughts…see photo below!

Our Club also presented Gateway Domestic Violence with a check for $12,600 raised from our yearly golf tournament…it was a banner day!

And our day of recognition kept getting better as we recognized Mike Day, Senior Pastor at Celebration Church, with the Paul Harris Fellow Award, and Greg Wilson, Managing Director at Jt Stratford Wealth Management, as Braselton Rotarian of the Year!

Our August 13th Braselton Rotary Club was a full house!

Now that kids are back in school, we had fun catching up with each other plus we heard from Ron Bennett, Town Manager of Braselton…sharing all things Braselton! Lots of time to ask questions, express concerns and get excited about all that Braselton has to offer our community.

Our first meeting of August found the Braselton Rotary Club….painting bowls!’’

Yep…we painted Empty Bowls to come alongside The Georgia Mountain Food Bank for the Empty Bowl Luncheon, their only annual fundraiser. What a fun morning!

At today’s Braselton Rotary Club….

…We had some special drop-in guests…a few Papa Jacks team members just wanted to say “Thank You” to our club! They serve us so faithfully week after week, for 8 or so years I think! We appreciate all of you…Bill, Flor, ‘lil Di, Terry, Kim, Susie, Cindy, plus the rest of the crew.

Sue Wyatt announced that through our Winder Rotary partnership 3000 backpacks were given out this week at Apalachee High School…what an impact when we partner with other clubs!

And today’s guest speaker was our 2026-27 District Governor, Dr. Paul Matthews! Paul is a member of the Rotary Club of the Classic City of Athens since 1997 and is a true inspiration…locally and globally.

Paul shared stories from several of his Rotary travels and one took place in the town of Xalapa, the scenic and cultural capital of the state of Veracruz in east-central Mexico. A Rotary pin sparked a conversation that led to a need and eventual fulfillment of that need…a Jaws of Life in a community that did not have such a resource! He shared that as Rotarians we want to create lasting impact wherever we go and whatever we’re involved in. Thanks Dr. Matthews for giving us a big, international picture of the Rotary Club!
