Buffalo Solidarity with Standing Rock

Buffalo Solidarity with Standing Rock This page serves as an online networking base for the exchange and communication of ideas, events and initiatives in support of Buffalo solidarity efforts. AHO!

Offsite actions must be organized to support the activism taking place at Standing Rock Reservation against the pipelines being built to connect the Bakken Oilfields in North Dakota to Illinois. That sacred land is now ground zero for defense of Gaia, our mother earth. Energy Transfer Partners, LP (ETP) has been contracted to actually lay the pipeline. ETP is a Fortune 500 natural gas and propane

company that owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the US. From what I can tell, ETP is an arm of Sunoco, so one of the most obvious offsite motions would be to affect a total boycott of Sunoco products and stations. However, as wonderful as a functional boycott of Sunoco would be, this must be the tip of the iceberg. Those of us who feel in-spired and able to do so must find our way and gather with Gaia defenders on the ground in N. Dakota. However, for those unable to make the journey, rest assured, there is a sacred contribution that every one of us can make! TOGETHER WE ARE UNBREAKABLE. Let the illumination of heart spread out from the oilfields. Quiet your mind and open your heart in order to receive the guidance that will unveil and catalyze your particular contribution. This page is meant to be a forum for various different groups and unaffiliated individuals to share together, thereby strengthening ALL efforts to defend our Mother.

"Alcatraz is more than just a rock to us. It's a stepping stone to a better future." - John Trudell, who broadcast "Radio Free Alcatraz" during the Occupation of Alcatraz in 1969.

Today is ๐Ÿ’š. Here is a reflection from Parks Conservancy CEO, Chris Lehnertz, to commemorate this day: "Thursday morning on Alcatraz, the Indigenous Peoples' Thanksgiving Sunrise Ceremony honored the enduring presence and leadership of Indigenous communities.

The power of Alcatraz is in its honesty. Itโ€™s more than a landmark, itโ€™s a place where stories of incarceration, resistance, and resilience converge. Itโ€™s where, more than five decades ago, the Occupation ignited a national conversation about Indigenous rights and sovereignty. That legacy continues today."

The UN has officially recognized September 5th to honor Indigenous women and girls. This day will raise awareness about their critical role in Indigenous communities' self-determined development and cultural strength. Their rights must be respected, and their voices must be heard.

This ThanksTaking, weโ€™re turning the spotlight where it belongs โ€” on the women who built the Red Power Movement and continue to shape Indigenous activism today.

For more than two decades, Warrior Women Project has been documenting the stories and strategies of our OGGs โ€” the matriarchs whose leadership moved history and still fuels the work happening across Native communities.

If you want to support Indigenous-led storytelling and stand with the women who have carried these movements forward for generations, we invite you to join us. Your contribution strengthens the archive, amplifies their voices, and keeps this work rooted in community.
