St. Francis High School Helps Out

Recently more than 20 juniors from St. Francis High School in Athol Springs came to St. Luke's to volunteer. We split the young men into three groups. One group worked in our dining room helping to prepare our daily meal. The second group worked in our St. Luke's Mall sorting and hanging clothes. The third group worked up in Our Lady of Hope Home School with our students. They accomplished quite a bit in their time with us and we are so very grateful. God is so good! God bless all of our volunteers!

Jesuit Students Volunteer at St. Luke's

On Friday, October 2 we had a group of Jesuit Students from Puerto Rico and Baltimore spend a couple of hours with us making sandwiches for our Dining Room and for our Good Shepherd Sandwich Ministry. They were in town for a Volleyball Tournament and were staying with Canisius. They brought all of the fixings for the sandwiches and then provided all the labor. They assembled and bagged over 400 sandwiches. God is so good. We are so grateful for this very kind and generous servic

Volunteers - a true blessing from God

Everyday, St. Luke's Mission of Mercy performs the works of mercy through the grace of God, the support of our benefactors and the efforts of our many faithful volunteers. This past week we were blessed with teams of volunteers from Greene & Associates, Five Star Bank and Nichols School. The teams from Greene & Associates and Five Star Bank worked in our dining room helping to prepare and serve meals. The team from Nichols School worked in our church helping us to store some items and then up in the school working with the students in Our Lady of Hope Home School, We are so grateful to all of our volunteers for all they do for St. Luke's and for God's poor.

Zion UCC feeds the hungry

Zion United Church of Christ in Tonawanda, NY made hundreds of sandwiches for delivery to St. Luke's Mission of Mercy this past Saturday (September 19). What a blessing this donation was! The sandwiches will be used to supplement our daily meal served in our dining room and to help in our daily sandwich ministry served from our Good Shepherd Residence. God is so good.
We are so grateful to Pastor Elizabeth, the team of sandwich volunteers and all of Zion UCC for their beautiful example of living the gospel of Jesus. You are all such a blessing to us and to God's poor.

School Days, School Days

Wednesday, September 9 was the first day of school for Our Lady of Hope Home School at St. Luke's Mission of Mercy. The students and teachers were all ready to get to work toward another fun and successful school year. It is such a blessing to see our young people excited about school and to provide them the opportunity to receive a solid education. Please pray for our teachers and students as they embark on the 2026-2027 Academic Year.

West Herr NY and Christmas in August

West Herr NY Corporation paid St. Luke's a visit on Tuesday, August 18 to drop off over 400 new toys for us to use in our New Toy Drive for children this Christmas. This program provides boxes of new toys for over 2000 children. This is only possible by the grace of God through the generosity of so many good people and companies like West Herr NY. Our resident "Mrs. Claus" of the toy give away was moved to tears by the incredible generosity and kindness of this donation. She knows first hand how many children will have a merrier Christmas because of it. God is so good.
Again, our sincerest thanks to West Herr NY for helping to make this coming Christmas so special for so many children! God bless them all!

On Saturday, August 15 we held our annual Gino Grasso Memorial Picnic to raise funds for our Kids of the Kingdom Summer program for children in our St. Luke's neighborhood. The event was held at Joseph's Country Manor and Grove. God blessed us with a beautiful day, a great turnout, delicious food and a successful fundraiser. Our sincerest thanks to all those who donated prizes, worked, volunteered, attended and supported us in any way. God is so good!

Timber

We had three "sick" trees on our property by our Good Shepherd Residence that, for safety reasons, needed to come down. On Friday, August 7, Parkhill Tree Service was here to take them down for us. We have worked with Parkhill before and are amazed at how quickly, safely and efficiently they do their job. Within 2.5 hours, they were cleaning up and just about done. We miss the trees but we are glad that the area around Good Shepherd is now safer.
