Graduation and Moving Up Day
Our Lady of Hope Home School

On Friday, June 12 we had Mass and our Graduation and Moving Up day ceremonies for Our Lady of Home School (OLH), our school here at St. Luke's Mission of Mercy.
We had one 8th grade graduate, Eri'Ona who will continue her education at St. Mary's High School in Lancaster.
It was a blessed day and we are so proud of all of our OLH students.

And thank you to all who contribute to our Education Fund (Donate Now at https://www.stlukesmissionofmercy.org/donate.html) that helps us provide a solid Catholic education to many of the children St. Luke's Mission of Mercy helps care for. God bless each and everyone of you and your families!

May God bless all of them and their families!

Our Lady of Hope Home School Picnic

Our home school at St. Luke's Mission of Mercy, Our Lady of Hope, held its end of the school year picnic on Thursday, June 11 in one of our Gospa Village lots. We had a bounce house, games, water balloons, a cookout and even Mr. Softee was there to provide ice cream as dessert! God blessed us with beautiful weather and everyone had a great time. It was a great way to end an amazing school year. God is so good!

Clarence Presbyterian Church Collects For St. Luke's

During the month of May, Clarence Presbyterian Church collected paper products, personal care items and over the counter medications for St. Luke's Mission of Mercy. They invited Dennis Gilhooley and his wife Sue to a Sunday Service to speak to the congregation about St. Luke's and its ministries. They were very welcoming and attentive. And everything they collected shows how incredibly loving and generous this congregation is.

Many of the families we serve can not afford to purchase the types of products that were collected so they look to St. Luke's for help. This donation will help us greatly to provide that assistance.

We are so grateful to the entire Clarence Presbyterian Church community for their wonderful example of caring for God's poor.

Special thanks to Julie Schmit and Jim Owen from Clarence Presbyterian Church for helping to coordinate the drive and personally delivering the items!

St. Mark's Catholic School Volunteers

On Friday, May 29 we had over 30 8th Graders from St. Mark's Catholic School come to St. Luke's to volunteer. St. Mark's sent the students with over 100 home-made sandwiches for our Good Shepherd Sandwich Ministry. As they were arriving, we had just run out of sandwiches to serve at Good Shepherd. God is so good and His timing is perfect! The students brought the sandwiches right into our Good Shepherd Residence and we were able to continue serving!
The students were on a day retreat and coming to St. Luke's was the service part of their day. We were so blessed to have them choose to come and serve with us at St. Luke's.
They split into three groups with one group working in our Dining Room, one group in our Mission Mall and one group in our Home School. They helped us prepare meals, sort and hang clothes and helped our Home School students. We are very grateful to St. Mark's and for the students and teachers who came and helped us to serve God's poor.

We have a new mower!

We are blessed to have a lot of green space around St. Luke's Mission of Mercy! It provides us with plenty of opportunity to practice our mowing skills. As you can imagine, all of this land can take its toll on mowers. This year, we were blessed to be able to purchase a new zero-turn mower. I want to thank Ebenezer United Church of Christ in West Seneca who provided much of the funds needed to purchase this beautiful machine. The Ebenezer faith community is a true blessing to St. Luke's! We are very grateful!

Nardin Academy Middle School Volunteers

St. Luke's was blessed to have over 20 seventh graders from Nardin Academy Middle School spend some time with us and volunteer. They divided into three groups and helped in our Dining Room making sandwiches, peeling potatoes and hard boiled eggs, in our Mission Mall sorting and hanging clothes and up in our Home School working with our students. It was a wonderful day and we are so grateful to all the seventh graders and their teachers who came and helped us serve God's poor!

Keller Williams Realty Red Day

On Thursday, May 16. we were blessed to have over 60 Keller Williams employees come to St. Luke's as part of their Red Day volunteer initiative. They formed two groups. The first group worked in our dining room doing everything from slicing cold cuts to cutting vegetables to peeling eggs to making sandwiches. The second group supplied all of the tools and materials necessary to clean around, w**d and mulch our 8 Gospa Village Houses.
What a great and hard-working team of people and what a wonderful and generous organization. We are so very grateful!
May God bless everyone who volunteered and the entire Keller Williams organization!

Message from the Board of Directors of St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy dated 5/13/2026.
The St. Luke’s Mission Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Dennis Gilhooley was voted in as our new Director of St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy at our recent Board Meeting. With the passing of our former Director, Amy Betros, Dennis stepped into the role of Interim Director last April. As the Interim Director, Dennis has done a remarkable job during the past year. Dennis has been keeping the mission running effectively and efficiently and we are so proud of all he has done! There were some significant challenges, such as the replacement of the steam pipes in the church. Dennis spearheaded the “Turn Up the Heat” Campaign and saw it through to a quick and successful end. Working together with amazing volunteers, community businesses and the missionaries, the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Basket giveaways and the Holiday Toy Drive brought joy to the hundreds who participated and benefitted from these programs. We look forward to working with Dennis in his new role as Director of St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy. It is through God’s faithfulness and blessings that St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy with the leadership of Dennis Gilhooley will continue to serve the poor and broken in our community.

May Crowning

On Friday, May 8, right before our 9 am Mass for our Home School we had the Crowning of our Blessed Mother. Our 8th grader placed the crown on Mary and all of our school children presented flowers to our heavenly Mother. It was a beautiful ceremony.
