"Five refugee women are stepping into new creative and economic opportunities after graduating from a weaving training program at Stitch Buffalo.

The celebration, held Saturday, marked the completion of a 10-week paid training program where participants learned weaving skills while building toward independent work as textile artists.

During the program, the women learned everything from basic hand looms to more complex tabletop weaving techniques."

This is a space to exchange ideas, listen in good faith, and actively engage with different perspectives. Bring your voice, your experiences, and an open mind!

We’ve been inspired by trends we’ve seen around embellishing clothing with lace trim, colorful buttons, ruffles, and vintage textiles like doilies.

With this in mind, we set up an Embellishment Bar in Second Stitch with some of our best stock of trims, ribbons, lace, and vintage embellishments.

Here’s how it works: pick up a bag and get busy filling it with your choices. You can mix and match from every basket on the bar, and take as much as can fit in your bag. Each bag is $15.

From there, tag us in what you make. Stop in soon, the Embellishment Bar will be set up through June 6th.
