When Connor Rosenecker thinks about Catholic Charities, he thinks about faith, service and the responsibility we have to care for one another.

Through his support of the Appeal, he has seen how Catholic Charities meets people with compassion, whether they need food, care, support or simply someone willing to help.

Your gift to the Appeal helps Catholic Charities continue this work every day, feeding the hungry, caring for those in need and bringing hope to neighbors across Western New York.

A big thank you to volunteers who spent time at our Rich Street office today as part of United Way of Buffalo & Erie County's Day of Caring. These volunteers worked alongside several of our staff members from our Behavioral Health program to plant flowers and spruce up the outside of the building.
We are so very grateful for their time and energy today!

When Jeremiah was referred to Catholic Charities’ Student Support Program (SPP), he was having a hard time adjusting to his new school. Experiencing serious and escalated behaviors, his days were often filled with outbursts, a reluctancy to trust staff, and wanting to go home.

But with genuine support and guidance through SSP, a transformation began to unfold.

With weekly assistance, as well as the collaboration of school staff and his family, Jeremiah was able to open up to past negative experiences, build a rapport with staff, and obtain the support he truly needed to navigate through his days.

Because of SSP, Jeremiah was able to make a total turnaround. He now looks forward to being at school, has made friends, has decreased his outbursts, and has learned how to better manage his emotions in appropriate ways.

Your support of Appeal 2026 makes these success stories possible - for dozens of students like Jeremiah, his family, and his classmates. Please give today so we can keep making brighter tomorrows together.

Why support the Appeal? Because it goes back to your community. Every dollar raised through the Appeal stays in Western New York - changing lives for the better. For your neighbors, your friends, your family, and maybe even for you.

Kate DiSalvo, Tri-County district director, said, "With the continued rise of inflation and cost of living, today, the need is growing at an alarming rate. More families are struggling to afford groceries and utilities. More seniors are living alone and vulnerable. For many households, one unexpected medical bill, car repair, or lost paycheck can spiral into a devastating crisis. Being a local resident of Genesee County, I see the amazing work we do daily - collaboration with other local organizations aides in providing the best support to individuals who walk through our doors or call in for services.

The annual appeal supports the operations of our programs and staffing in the Tri-County region. Programs such as Emergency Financial Assistance, which helps individuals and families who have undergone circumstances where they need immediate assistance with rent, utility bills, food, or personal care and hygiene items, benefits from the Appeal. As does our Friendly Phones Program in Orleans County, which is fully funded through the Appeal, and a percentage of our Home Visitation Program in Genesee County. These free programs provide socialization and well-being checks for older adults with limited ability to leave their home by a volunteer providing in person visits or weekly phone calls.

I would encourage people to donate to the Appeal, because every donation made is going back to WNY, aiding program support that will assist and give hope to a neighbor, a friend, or a family member during a time of hardship."

Time is running short on Appeal 2026, and the need in our community is still high. Your gift to the Appeal supports vital programs and services like basic needs, food assistance, counseling, preventive services, and more. Nearly 1 in 10 Western New Yorkers are impacted through Catholic Charities. Won’t you support your neighbor?

Our foster grandparents understood the assignment 100%! We were able to celebrate all of their accomplishments in the classroom and beyond during our annual foster grandparent picnic earlier this week. Your support for the appeal helps us fund programs that help people of every age – and that’s something we can all dance about!
