The 3 R's Framework
Recognize: Learn to spot the signs of abuse, which can be physical, emotional, verbal, financial, sexual, or digital. Warning signs include sudden changes in behavior, unexplained injuries, or isolation from friends and family.
Respond: Act safely and supportively when someone discloses abuse. Listen without judgment, believe their experience, stay calm, and prioritize immediate safety (such as calling emergency services if there is immediate danger).
Refer: Connect the individual to professional help and community resources. Support them in contacting specialized organizations or hotlines.
