Saturday, October 17, was Just Transition Day for Open Buffalo's Emerging Leaders Class of 2026!

Our emerging leaders had the opportunity to learn from Open Buffalo's Executive Director and master Just Transition trainer, Franchelle Parker , and the Worm King himself, Myles Stubblefield of BFLO Worm Works!

Through engaging discussions and hands-on learning, participants explored Just Transition, a framework for shifting toward an economy that is sustainable, equitable, and just for everyone.

Together, they examined the interconnected systems that contribute to environmental harm and economic inequality, while exploring practical ways to move away from extractive practices and toward more sustainable solutions.

One powerful example? ♻️ Turning food waste into SuperSoil with BFLO Worm Works! Our leaders learned how something as simple as composting can help reduce landfill waste, restore soil health, and contribute to a healthier planet.

Just Transition isn't just about changing systems. It's about reimagining how we live, care for our communities, and build a future where everyone can thrive.
