⚾ Update from Interim President Tim Kline ⚾
Thank you for your patience and continued support as we work to deliver the best possible season for our players. We wanted to share a few important updates and exciting news about the upcoming season.
📅 SEASON KICKOFF – JUNE 6TH
Due to ongoing water issues at the concession building, we are moving our official season kickoff to June 6th.
All players and families are invited to participate in the annual parade beginning at the St. Ambrose parking lot and ending at Okell Park, where several teams will be playing games throughout the day. We hope to see all of our players, coaches, families, and fans there as we celebrate the start of another SBBA season together!
⚾ SEASON & REGISTRATION UPDATE
We sincerely apologize for the delayed start to the 2026 season. We extended registration as long as possible in an effort to maximize participation and ensure every registered player had the opportunity to play this season.
While registration numbers were lower than anticipated, we were able to field teams at the 8U, 10U, and 12U levels. To provide a full season experience for our players, we worked closely with neighboring organizations to create a collaborative league structure. Coordinating schedules, jerseys, and equipment contributed to the delay, and we truly appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience.
🚧 CONCESSION STAND UPDATE
At this time, our concession stand remains closed due to a lack of running water. We cannot operate until proper sanitation requirements are met, but we are actively working toward a resolution.
🏟 FIELD AVAILABILITY & SCHEDULING
We also want to clarify that while SBBA has proudly helped improve the fields at Okell Park, the park itself is owned and scheduled through the City of Buffalo. Field use for SBBA, Buffalo Public Schools, and other organizations is coordinated through the City, which may occasionally require practice or game adjustments. We appreciate your flexibility and will communicate any changes as early as possible.
📣 ADDRESSING COMMUNITY FEEDBACK
We’ve heard the concerns regarding communication, league leadership, and scheduling, and we take that feedback seriously.
• Tim Kline is currently serving as Interim President with support from the full SBBA Board.
• An updated list of board members will be posted to our website soon.
• We are committed to improving communication and providing more consistent updates moving forward.
Regarding a recently discussed identity theft concern: the matter involved SBBA-owned bank accounts and was formally addressed by the board. The issue did not impact league operations, has been resolved, and the association’s financial operations are functioning normally.
🤝 MEET THE BOARD NIGHT
We are planning a “Meet the Board” night where families can ask questions, share ideas, and discuss ways to continue improving SBBA. More information on the date and location will be shared soon.
Thank you again for supporting South Buffalo Baseball Association. We are excited for the season ahead and can’t wait to see everyone back at the park!
