Ever wonder…
“Is this normal?”
“Should my child be doing more by now?”
“Why are the meltdowns SO big lately?”

You are not alone — and you are not doing anything wrong.

Child development from birth through age 6 is full of rapid growth, big emotions, and wide ranges of what’s considered typical. When parents understand what’s developmentally expected, everything starts to make more sense — behaviors feel less personal and more purposeful.

✨ This Wednesday evening, I’m teaching a live online class:
What to Expect: Child Development from Birth to Age 6

In this 45-minute session, you’ll learn:
• What skills typically emerge at each stage
• Why tantrums, clinginess, and emotional ups and downs are part of healthy development
• How to set realistic expectations that reduce daily frustration
• Practical ways to support your child’s growth with confidence

This class is designed to help you feel calmer, more informed, and more prepared for the season your child is in right now.

Understanding development changes everything.

Your mantra for the week:

Even when parenting looks different in another home, I am still exactly the parent my child needs here.

Parenting Tip #13:
Use "I" statements to express feelings. "I'm feeling really frustrated right now." "I'm feeling upset and just need a couple minutes."

It reduces defensiveness and models healthy communication.

When we hug our children, our brains release oxytocin — the “bonding hormone” that tells their nervous system, You are safe. You belong here.
Their heart rate slows. Stress hormones drop. The thinking part of their brain comes back online.

And here’s the beautiful part: it doesn’t just change them.
It changes us too.

A long hug can calm a dysregulated child faster than any lecture.
It can soften a hard moment.
It can repair after a tough day.

So today, on , let this be your reminder:
You don’t have to fix everything.
Sometimes the most powerful parenting tool is simply wrapping your arms around the person you love and staying there a little longer.

Go give someone a hug — your nervous system will thank you.
