State Auxiliary attendees had much to do on Saturday at the State Meeting in Columbia with two meetings up in the day along prepping for the various projects.

Our Juniors assisted escorting Past State Presidents and Officers to the opening session, followed by the State Color and Banner Carriers from our unit. Various unit members presented committee reports, helped present awards associated with reports made by units throughout the state, as well as, two of our own concluding their tenture on the State Line as Officers. Thank you Shauna Lynn and Peggy Roberts.

Our final session on Saturday concluded with the assembly saying good bye to Velma Steinman as our State Commander. But the busyness of the day continued with the retiring of the colors, prep for attendees treats by Juniors, and the prep by members of the hall for the evening banquet.

Ten kids. DAV Auxiliary Juniors. These ten kids I am so proud of tonight after watching them yesterday and today prepare for and serve our Veterans, their organization, and their community.

These kids showed up to move tables to set up yesterday, put out table cloths and decorations, practiced flags at meetings leading up to today, showed up by 7am this morning to help carry in food, greet guests, serve coffee, carry and fill plates when necessary, clear dirty dishes, wash dishes, refill coffee and drinks, help clean up and clear tables, refold table cloths, put away decorations, carry flags out for flag retirement, assist with flag retirement, take out trash, move all the tables to reset the hall, carry things back out for folks, and in generally be cheery and helpful.

All I can say as the Junior Activities Chair, is well done. Well done. I am so pleased with your efforts and attitudes today. Thank you- Becky Schnapp

Memorial Day 2026 at the Buffalo DAV hall. So many helpers seeking to give honor to those who gave their all were present for the annual breakfast and Memorial Day service and flag retirement.

The Auxiliary created a tasty breakfast, as always, for those attending. The Junior Color Guard of 10 Juniors presented the colors and Brooke Burger sang the anthem for the crowd. Shauna Lynn Shalvey, State DAV Auxiliary Judge Advocate was the Auxiliary speaker followed by long time Chapter 62 Member Sharla Howard who who not only gave a speech but also presented historical documentation about a picture treasure the Chapter has in the building.

After a flurry of door prizes, the crowd was dismissed to go outside to attend and participate in the flag retirement.

Thank you to the hard working kitchen staff and volunteer crew who showed up so very early and stayed late to clean and reset the hall.
