Welcome back to the final installment of our series, Diaries We Missed, for the semester! This week we are highlighting the incredible diary of Dang Thuy Tram, a young Vietnamese woman who served her country as a doctor on the front lines of the Vietnam War. Her book “Last Night I Dreamed of Peace” is available to purchase anywhere you get your books!

We are so honored to have access to stories like these and can’t wait to continue our work on this series next semester!

If you or someone you know has a diary entry you’d like to share with us, please feel free to shoot us a DM. Thank you for another incredible semester & we’ll see you next year! 🤍

🌱 Come see our student-created play, “The Seed”, at Buffalo State’s 1st Annual Student Showcase, next Wednesday at 2pm in the Social Hall!

“The Seed” was crafted by students, for students in our local community, based on the lessons our students learned during last summer’s Study Abroad trip to Rwanda, Africa.

After the performance there will be a 30-minute workshop activating the central theme of the play. If you’re interested in learning more about what we do here at the Anne Frank Project, this is a great way to do so! 🌱

Welcome back to our new series, Diaries We Missed, where this week we are featuring Immaculée Ilibagiza and the incredible story of how she survived the 1994 Rwandan Genocide.

Her book “Left to Tell” tells the story of how she and seven other women were sent into hiding, spending 91 days in a bathroom together at a local pastors house, only to find out that nearly everyone in her family had been brutally murdered while she hid.

Stories like this one are not only incredibly inspirational but integral to ensuring we never commit these awful atrocities again.

Immaculée Ilibagiza has signed books available on her website, and regular copies available wherever you buy your books.

If you, too, have a diary entry you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you! Shoot us a DM with your submission ✍🏼

Yom HaShoah is our world’s annual ‘Holocaust Remembrance Day.’ Buffalo State University’s Anne Frank Project joins hands with ALL who mourn this dark period of history where Hitler’s N**i regime murdered 6 million Jews and 5 million other ‘undesirables.’ May we honor the victims, lift the survivors, and recommit ourselves to activating the phrase: Never Again!

We are excited to be starting a new series this semester here at AFP: Diaries We Missed.

Here at the Anne Frank Project we recognize that there is an “Anne Frank” in every genocide and in every conflict. Since the holocaust, the world has been busier than ever genocide and mass atrocities, and so we often think to ourselves…

How many have we missed?

How many diaries can we put a spotlight on? ✍🏼

In this series, we will be highlighting diaries from all over the world that tell stories of tragedy and oppression while demonstrating incredible resilience, survival, hope, light, forgiveness and faith, from all different perspectives.

We’d love to hear from you, too! Do you have a diary entry you’d like to submit? Shoot us DM with your submission📝
