The Bramwell Foundation

Directions

The Bramwell Foundation Incorporated in 1888, Bramwell, West Virginia, emerged as a thriving center of commerce for a rapidly growing nation.

Some of America’s most visionary minds called it home, fueling the country’s expansion, prosperity, and defense—all made possible by the rich coal seams beneath its hills. Though many of Bramwell’s distinctive and architecturally exquisite structures have withstood the passage of time, shifting industries and population decline have left them in disrepair. The loss of these landmarks—and the history, identity, and spirit they embody—would be immeasurable. Founded in 1994, The Bramwell Foundation is dedicated to preserving and restoring these historic buildings, ensuring that residents and visitors alike can honor our legacy, celebrate our shared past, and lay the foundation for the town’s renewal. The Mercer County Coalition for Healthy Communities is developing a Volunteer Opportunity List to help community members meet work and community engagement requirements associated with SNAP and Medicaid programs.
Starting November 2026, many individuals will be required to complete 80 hours per month through employment, volunteer service, education, or other qualifying activities. Documentation will be required every six months to maintain compliance with program requirements.
Our goal is to connect residents with year-round volunteer opportunities that can help fulfill these requirements while supporting local organizations and strengthening our community.
If your organization utilizes volunteers and would like to be included on this resource list, please contact us!
Here is the draft of our current listing here in Mercer County!
