In this episode of Igniting Hope Radio, Pastor George Nicholas sits down with Dr. Allana M. Krolikowski, MD, FAAFP, Chief Executive Officer of Jericho Road Community Health Center, for a powerful conversation on health equity, maternal health, and the social determinants shaping life in Buffalo.

Rooted in the work of the Buffalo Center for Health Equity and its deep connection to Buffalo’s 14208 zip code, this conversation explores the real-life barriers that impact families, mothers, and communities across the city, especially when it comes to Black maternal health and wellness.

Together, Pastor George and Dr. Krolikowski discuss the importance of culturally responsive care, community health centers, access to primary care, policy advocacy, and what it takes to build a stronger community of care in Buffalo.

VISION THRIVE 🧠

“We want to introduce a new community-centered initiative called Vision Thrive. Vision Thrive is a project funded by the CDC Foundation and led by the Buffalo Center for Health Equity, in partnership with the Erie County Department of Health and BestSelf Behavioral Health.
This work is focused on better understanding mental health conditions impacting youth-specifically students in grades 5 through 8 on Buffalo’s East Side. Right now, the project is actively engaging the community through focus groups with students and school staff, creating space to listen and learn directly from those most impacted.
In addition, we’ve launched a parent and caregiver survey to better understand the experiences, challenges, and strengths families are seeing every day. This input will help shape what an ideal path to mental health support looks like for families in our community.
Vision Thrive brings together community voice, public health data, and clinical expertise to better understand how mental health affects learning, school attendance, and overall well-being-and to help shape more responsive systems of care.
This is just the start of the work, and we’ll be sharing more soon-including opportunities for community involvement.

For more information or to take the survey, contact the Buffalo Center for Health Equity at (716)
202-0702 or email Giavanna at [email protected].”
