SUDEP is when someone with epilepsy, who was otherwise healthy, unexpectedly dies. In SUDEP cases, no other cause of death is found when an autopsy is done.

Dr. Crino and Ashley provide an overview of SUDEP, including what you need to know to have informed conversations with your medical team about your/your loved one’s risk. They also share resources for grief support and how you can support TSC research through tissue donation.

We’re Posting All Week to !

In recognition of World SUDEP Awareness Day on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the Epilepsy Association of Western New York will be sharing information all week to raise awareness about Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP).

This year’s theme, reminds us that open conversations about SUDEP, seizure safety, and risk prevention can help save lives.

Follow along throughout the week as we share facts, resources, and information to help individuals and families affected by epilepsy better understand SUDEP and the importance of seizure safety.

Every conversation matters. Every shared resource makes a difference.

Together, let's raise awareness, start conversations, and help !
