There are a few spots remaining in this year’s MAP Growing Green Youth summer cohort! Apply using the link below (also in our bio) — and make sure to read these important notes for the best chance of being places at MAP.
🔗 www3.erie.gov/syep/youth-summer-youth-employment-program.

About the application:
To participate, applications for these remaining spots must be submitted through the Erie County Summer Youth Employment Program Application.

Due to funding limitations and returning youth, spots are limited — for the best chance of getting accepted, we recommend applying ASAP, by this Friday, June 5th. (The county will still accept applications after this date)
Important note!

Youth who are interested in being placed at MAP this summer through this program should reach out via email DIRECTLY to [email protected] when they submit their application. This will ensure that MAP can request their placement at our organization.

Who should apply?
This program is open to youth ages 14-20 and is income restricted. Applicants that receive any of the following benefits are automatically income-qualified for the program: Temporary Assistance; Medicaid; Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) benefits; youth applicant receives Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Our next Growing Green Youth alumni highlight as part of our spring fundraiser is of one of MAP’s true O.G.’s.— Neena! From Growing Green Youth to Youth Program Director, Neena brings over a decade of exprience in the food justice space and institutional knowledge to MAP. Neena is a natural educator and communicator; she uses these skills to connect with the MAP youth, help them grow as leaders, and connect them to the larger food justice issues facing our community.

The work that Neena does as Youth Program Director is the core of MAP’s mission. We are cultivating a revolution through youth empowerment and food systems change. Neena leads the youth so they can create the world they want to see.

Consider donating to our spring fundraiser today at bit.ly/growingreen26 or at the link in our bio to help support this ongoing work. Every cent counts — even small donations can have a huge impact.

The MAP Mobile Market season starts THIS TUESDAY! Swipe through the slides to see the different market locations where we will be slinging affordable, locally grown produce at each week June 2nd - October 30th.

The MAP Mobile Market sells fresh fruits and vegetables at locations all over Buffalo. Our produce is seasonal and from local farms. We sell cultural fruits and vegetables that can be hard to find at grocery stores. We have programs that keep prices low and believe everyone should have healthy food. 💚

All items are sourced from local farmers and producers at market rate as well as MAP’s own Urban Farm on the West Side.

Today, we wrapped our final Free Market in partnership with , , and . 🚛🥬🩷 We are so grateful for this partnership that enabled us to distribute fresh, locally grown produce for FREE at Buffalo Public Schools. Along with Buffalo Go Green, we held markets at 11 schools in total — first in November as an initial response to the federal SNAP cuts, and again this spring.

Buffalo has the 2nd highest rate of food insecurity in New York State at 20%. One in every five residents struggles with consistent access to healthy, fresh food. We are thankful for our community for stepping up to support these markets, an effort to meet the growing need for fresh food in our community.

What’s next? 🚛🥕 Starting next Tuesday, the MAP Mobile Market will be back for the June - October season! Customers can get locally grown, fresh produce at a discount using our Harvest Savings Program — which offers a 15-50% sliding scale discount. We also accept Double Up Food Bucks, Fresh Connect, and Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program Checks. Learn more at www.mass-ave.org/mobilemarket. 🔗

The co-op movement is about building power through shared ownership, equity, and decision-making. Learn more at this community event, held down the street from MAP at Five Points Bakery!

In one month, we'll be bringing together local cooperatives, community members, and supporters to enjoy an afternoon filled with food, music, and meaningful connections.

Why do we care about co-ops anyway? 🤔

At Co-Op Fest, you’ll meet all kinds of co-ops - from worker-owned businesses to housing co-ops and everything in between.

We’re proud to be part of this growing movement where we build power through shared ownership, equity, and decision-making. 💛 Come learn more about how folx are practicing economic justice through a new economy that puts people first!

Join us on Saturday, June 27 at Five Points Bakery for a day rooted in people power and collective care, led by and benefiting !
