WOOHOO!! Thank you for honoring our Executive Director last night at the Spark Awards! Emma was selected by ASIWNY for their "Rising Star" award. We are so grateful to have Emma leading LSA into the future—it is an award well earned!

A blurb from the Spark Awards event program: "After joining Locust Street Art in 2017 as an instructor and program facilitator, Emma Brittain stepped into executive leadership, becoming Interim Executive Director in 2024 and taking on the permanent role in 2025. Since then, she has expanded partnerships and community programming, brought back open-call exhibitions, and overseen accessibility improvements to the organization's historic building, including its first wheelchair-accessible entrance. Her leadership is helping shape the next chapter of this longtime Buffalo arts organization."

Artober is almost here, and we are so excited! Artober is our annual Halloween themed 5x7 art auction fundraiser. During the month of October, we invite our students and local artists to create artwork inspired by a spooky prompt list made by our staff. These 5"x7" works are donated to support LSA, displayed throughout the end of October, and auctioned off in the leadup to Artober!

We are thrilled that Meg Specksgoor will be joining us again this year for spooky storytelling. Meg is a local artist and author. Last year, she shared one of her "crankies", an 18th century era storytelling art form blending performance, animation, and illustration. Meg will be returning this year to share more of her spooky stories and art—join us on October 24th to see what she shares this year!
