WNY Herb Study Group

WNY Herb Study Group The Western New York Herb Study Group meets monthly to learn and share information related to the general use of herbs. March through November.

Speakers are brought in for specific topics, i.e. designing and maintaining an herb garden, uses of herbs in cooking, baking, natural pesticides, etc. No advice is given on the medicinal use of herbs. Meetings are held at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens in Lackawanna, NY from 4:30-7:00 pm. Members present Mini Herb Sessions to focus on one herb each meeting. Herbal refreshments are served at each meeting. The Herb of the Year for 2012 is the Rose.

WNY Herb Study meets typically on the 2nd
Wednesday of the month, March through
November. Meetings are from 4:30—6:30 pm in the Administration Building which is at the back of the parking lot to the right of the green houses. Members and guests can use either the staircase or elevator to get to the 2nd floor for the location of the meetings.

Tonight's speaker Guaba Guarikoku, Spider walking on the Earth, presented an Herbal Show and Tell. She discussed medicinal and spiritual uses of plants that are commonly misconstrued as "weeds". It was a wonderful night! A fellow herb club member, Holly, did a mini talk on germander too!
