What a wonderful evening of Fall Fun at GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo! 🎃

Our Family Fun: Fall Fun Halloween Party was a great success, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate the season with our amazing GiGi’s community. 🫶

We loved seeing so many familiar faces, welcoming new friends, and watching everyone come together for an evening of fun, friendship, and celebration.

A special thank you to our friends from the Special Education Early Childhood Program at Buffalo State University for joining us and helping make the evening so memorable! 💙💛

A big thank you to Gullo Garden Center for donating the pumpkins!

And, of course, thank you to all the families, participants, and volunteers who spent their Saturday evening with us. Events like these remind us that GiGi’s Playhouse is more than just a place for programming. It’s a community where friendships grow, families connect, and everyone belongs.

A little Friday fun with a sweet treat! 🍦
The temperatures may be dropping here in Buffalo, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying some ice cream at GiGi’s Playhouse today!

During our Friday adult programming, we treated everyone to some delicious Dairy Queen Blizzards! 🍨 With fall weather already settling in, we figured we’d squeeze in one more ice cream day before things get even colder!

Family Fun: Fall Fun is almost here 🎃

All are invited to join us at GiGi's Playhouse Buffalo for our Fall Fun Halloween Party, a festive evening for our friends and their loved ones!

Come dressed in your favorite costume, or come just as you are, and enjoy an evening filled with pumpkin painting, pizza, festive treats, beverages, and plenty of fun fall-themed activities for all ages! 🙌

We're also excited to welcome our friends from the Special Education Early Childhood Program from, Buffalo State University! They'll be joining us to engage with our younger participants through play and activities while making meaningful connections with our families.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! 💛💙

Today, October 1st, marks the beginning of a month dedicated to celebrating individuals with Down syndrome, sharing their stories, recognizing their achievements, and continuing to build communities where everyone is welcomed, valued, and included.

Here at GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo, we get to witness the strength, joy, determination, talents, and individuality of our incredible participants every single day. This month gives us another opportunity to amplify their voices and remind our community that Down syndrome is only one part of who someone is.

Throughout October, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating, learning, advocating, and helping us spread a little more acceptance and inclusion wherever you go.

The mural is complete, and our GiGi’s family left their mark! 🎨👋

We are so excited to finally reveal the beautiful new mural at GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo, created by local artist and sculptor Eric Jones and generously donated to our Playhouse by Hope Rises !

But the finishing touch was something extra special. ❤️

Today, our participants were invited to dip their hands in paint and add their own handprints to the branches of the tree, becoming a permanent part of the mural. After all, it’s the incredible individuals who walk through our doors who truly make GiGi’s Playhouse what it is!

Our Executive Director, Emily Mondschein, had the honor of adding the very first handprint, and from there, the tree began filling up with colorful prints from our GiGi’s family. 🖐️🌳 Each handprint is different, each one belongs, and together they’ve made this piece of art uniquely ours.

We are incredibly grateful to Hope Rises for gifting this mural to our Playhouse and to Eric Jones for sharing his creativity and talent with us, and for helping our participants leave their own mark on his work.

Now, whenever someone walks into our Playhouse and sees this mural, they’ll see more than a beautiful piece of art. They’ll see a little piece of the people who make GiGi’s, GiGi’s. ☮️

Something beautiful is taking shape at GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo! 🫟🖌️

We’re so excited to share a behind-the-scenes look as Western New York artist and sculptor Eric Jones brings a brand-new mural to life on one of the walls inside our Playhouse!

Eric is known for his incredible large-scale artwork and sculptures created from materials including sand, snow and pumpkins. His work has earned him national recognition as a Guinness World Record holder, winner of Food Network’s Outrageous Pumpkins and finalist on Halloween Wars. He also gives back to the community through his nonprofit work, creating personalized sculptures to bring joy to children facing health challenges and adversity.

This special mural has been generously donated to GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo by Hope Rises , an organization dedicated to spreading hope through positive storytelling and acts of love and goodwill. Their work goes beyond sharing good news, they work within the community to help make good news happen, supporting nonprofits, families and individuals in need. 💙💛

Fridays at GiGi’s are getting even better! 💙🧡

Today marked our second Friday of our new adult programming, and this week we headed into the kitchen! 👩‍🍳🫑

Our adults worked alongside volunteers from the Genetic Counseling Master’s Program from University at Buffalo to make stuffed peppers…and judging by these photos, there was plenty of fun along the way!

Our new Friday programming gives adults another opportunity each week to connect, socialize, learn new skills, stay active and try something new. We’re so excited to see this program continue to grow!
