Buffalo Sewer, NYSDEC, US Army Corps, and Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper have been working collaboratively this past week to contain and find the sources of a white milky substance and a petroleum sheen that have appeared in the Buffalo River. If you are out exploring our waterways this weekend, please do not remove or detach the containment socks (like the one in the picture) and if you see a foreign substance being dumped into the waterway or down a stormwater grate, report it immediately to NYSDEC at 1-844-332-3267.
