Reaching Out 2 Africa Humanitarian Outreach of ROTA Development Group Inc. This takes place through a series of direct service opportunities uniting people of different cultures.

The need for additional humanitarian assistance, American companionship, friendship, and advocacy for African refugees and their families, have been the main focus points of our “Reaching Out 2 Africa” ministry. African Clergy Assistance, began in the summer of 2000 in a conversation with Maryknoll Missionary, Fr. Douglas May. Included in our discussion was my expressed desire to some day visit Africa. That breakfast conversation resulted in my agreement to house and supervise a Coptic Rite: Egyptian Seminarian for three weeks. ROTA has reached out into Africa itself in order to assist with particular needs. Building a supportive relationship with the St. Charles Lwanga/Butende Technical Institute (BTI) – a vocational training school for young adult students often times orphaned by the tragedy of AIDS in their families. Through this relationship we were able to accomplish the “Share The Well” and “Evarist House” projects. Currently we are engaged in the Koiyom Clinic Building project.

How do we advance equity and professional development for medical students, trainees, and physicians with disabilities?

John D. Hall, MD, of the Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences - University at Buffalo Department of Medicine, has some ideas. đź’ˇ

He recently co-authored and contributed to two position papers from the American College of Physicians (ACP) outlining disability-related issues in medical education and actionable steps toward a more equitable learning and health care environment.

Erasing stigma, boosting representation, and actively accommodating are all key.

Martyrs Day celebrations Postponed.
Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu, greetings.

After consultations with the national epidemic response task force and religious leaders, we have decided to postpone the Martyrs' Day to a later date, which will be communicated.

This decision was made because Uganda receives thousands of pilgrims annually from Eastern Congo, which is currently experiencing an Ebola outbreak. To safeguard everyone's lives, it is essential that this important event be postponed.

I encourage those who had begun their journey to return home, continue observing the precautionary measures, report anyone who is sick, and encourage those who are ill to seek medical care.

We regret any inconvenience caused, but the protection of life must come first.

Signed:
Yoweri K. Museveni

Home ownership as part of the American Dream — is it still within reach? In our newest blog post we explore the widening divide, the work of organizations like Habitat for Humanity, and why meaningful change matters. Read: https://wix.to/GVlLNDl

(2026) It is often called part of the American Dream; to own your own home, your own piece of land and a secure place for your family. In the USA currently the divide between the "haves" and the "have nots" continue to widen. There is at least one organization of note that tries to close that gap, H...
