This past month of December we decided to have each donation go towards the annual school fees for children in Vumilia. Because of your generous donations last month, you have paid the yearly school fees for twenty-six children to attend primary and secondary school. Thank you!

Unicef estimates that up to 40% of Kenyan school girls miss classes during their monthly menstruation due to lack of sanitary pads. Today we partnered with AFRIpads to distribute 50 reusable sanitary kits to women in Vumilia who will train school girls in the community how to use them. Let's make missing class due to monthly periods a thing of the past.

We are happy to say that this week marks the two year anniversary of the opening of the Kawelle IT School! Proud to see how it has grown and graduates moving on. How time flies!

Today we celebrated the first graduating class from the Kawelle IT School! There were 16 graduates in total who received their diploma in the Kenyan IT curriculum. There was cake, dancing, music, and a huge turn out. Proud of each graduate and can't wait to see what the next step is for each!

It's amazing to see how Vumilia truly comes together in times of hardship. Meet Rose Mary Wacuka. Unfortunately, she lost her daughter this week to cancer and AIDS, and had a hospital bill of over $3,300 from her daughter's condition that she could not pay. Hundreds from the community donated what little amount they could, and after just a few days Rose Mary had more than that amount! Vumilia truly is an exemplar for other communities. Tuko pamoja!

We cannot express enough how proud we are of Jeremiah, Douglas, and Vumilia for taking ownership, responsibility, and making the Kawelle IT Center self-sustaining. Another jam packed class, and done entirely by them!
