🗳️ Buffalo Votes 2026: Know Before You Go!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Buffalo Votes 2026!

A special thank you to the Erie County Board of Elections, New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), Buffalo Immigrant Leadership Team (BILT), and all our community partners who helped make this event possible.

We also appreciate the elected officials and candidates who joined us, listened to community conversations, and participated in the program.

🌟 A BIG shout-out to our future leaders — our youth!

From presenting what civic engagement means to them, to organizing, welcoming guests, serving, and capturing moments through photography, our young people played a huge role in making this event a success. We are incredibly proud of them!

To our community members, thank you for showing up, asking thoughtful questions, and actively participating. We are especially grateful to those who brought delicious traditional Somali food, snacks, and even a beautiful cake! Your generosity and kindness made the gathering even more special.

We hope this is just the beginning of more opportunities to learn, connect, and strengthen civic engagement in our community.

⚽ 2026 COACH-MENTOR TRAINING — REGISTER NOW!

Stronger Coaches. Stronger Connections. Greater Impact!

The United Somali Alliance of Buffalo (USAB), in partnership with the U.S. Soccer Foundation, invites you to join us for a FREE, in-person Coach-Mentor Training!

This interactive training introduces the Coach-Mentor Blueprint, offering practical tools to strengthen coaching and mentoring skills, build meaningful connections with youth, and create positive, supportive environments on and off the field.

Everyone is welcome! Whether you're a coach, youth leader, community volunteer, have volunteered with USAB in the past, or simply want to learn how to make a positive difference in young people's lives, we encourage you to join us. It's a great opportunity to learn new skills, exchange ideas, and grow together!

🏈 An Amazing Experience at Highmark Stadium!

What an incredible opportunity for United Somali Alliance of Buffalo (USAB) and our youth coaches and volunteers to attend the Huddle for Health Youth Sports Safety Summit!

We had the privilege of learning directly from experts in sports medicine, emergency response, and healthcare, gaining valuable knowledge and practical skills to make youth sports safer.

A big thank you to Project Play WNY for putting this summit together and giving our youth and coaches the opportunity to learn from experts. We really enjoyed the experience and appreciate everyone who made it possible!

We're excited to bring this knowledge back to our youth programs and continue investing in the next generation of coaches and leaders! ⚽🏐

⚽🏐 Today we wrapped up our outdoor soccer and volleyball season!

Throughout the season, our young players worked hard, learned new skills, built friendships, and enjoyed being together on the field and court. Buffalo’s weather was kind to us, allowing us to keep playing without weather cancellations! ☀️

Thank you to the families who brought their children to practice and to our coaches, youth leaders, and volunteers for their dedication. You helped make USAB’s More for Our Youth program a place for our youth to learn, grow, and connect. 💙

As part of our More for Our Youth program, we’ve enjoyed great September weather and a wonderful season of soccer and volleyball at Front Park. Come out and join us for our last regular week of games!

🏐💗 MORE FOR OUR YOUTH — GIRLS VOLLEYBALL IS HERE!

Another youth-created idea is coming to life! 🙌

Through More for Our Youth, our young leaders recognized the importance of creating opportunities specifically for girls to stay active, get outdoors, build confidence, and connect with one another.

From that need came Girls-Only Volleyball — a program designed to give girls ages 5–18 their own safe, welcoming, and energetic space to play, learn, grow, and have fun! 🏐💗

And it’s about much more than volleyball:

🏐 Build volleyball skills
🤝 Make new friends
❤️ Stay active and get outdoors
🏆 Build confidence
🌟 Learn, play, and grow together

No experience is needed — every skill level is welcome. Whether you're picking up a volleyball for the first time or already love the game, there is a place for you!

⚽ MORE FOR OUR YOUTH — From an Idea to the Field!

Today, the first program developed through More for Our Youth officially came to life with the launch of our Youth Soccer Academy!

And what a first day it was! 🙌

Our youth took ownership of this program from the very beginning. They helped shape and design the academy, conducted community outreach, promoted the program, managed registration and sign-ups, and worked together to prepare for opening day.

The Youth Soccer Academy is about more than playing soccer. It provides young people with a free, structured, and welcoming environment where they can learn the fundamentals of the game, develop their skills, stay active, build teamwork and confidence, and—most importantly —enjoy playing soccer. Whether a child is touching a soccer ball for the first time or already has experience, there is a place for them in the academy.

Today, that leadership continued on the field. Our youth organized the participants, divided players into age groups, and made sure every child who signed up had a place where they could feel safe, included, and enjoy the game—regardless of their experience or skill level.

We were also happy to help provide soccer cleats and other needed equipment so young players had what they needed to participate. ⚽❤️

Seeing so many young people come out for the first day was incredible. What started as an idea during our youth leadership meetings is now a real, structured program serving the younger generation.

Youth investing in the generation coming behind them.

And this is just the beginning. More for Our Youth is officially underway!💪🌟

🎉 From Planning to Action — Our Youth Are Leading the Way!

Today marked an important milestone for our Youth Leadership Program the conclusion of the planning and development phase and the beginning of implementation!

Over the past several weeks of intensive meetings, discussions, research, and planning, our youth have put in real work. They surveyed community needs, exchanged and challenged ideas, developed a list of programs, worked through what was realistic, and planned how those ideas could be put into action.

The result is MORE FOR OUR YOUTH a program focused on physical activity, education, leadership, and creating more opportunities for the younger generation in our community.

What makes it special is that our youth are taking the activities they love, the skills they have, and the experiences they enjoy—and passing them on to younger youth who share those same interests. At the same time, they are turning those interests into well-thought-out, structured programs that create a safe, welcoming, and positive environment where children and young people can learn, stay active, build friendships, and have fun.** They are becoming leaders and role models for the generation coming behind them.

As the United Somali Alliance of Buffalo, we are proud to have provided the space to bring our youth together, listen to their ideas, and give them the guidance, resources, and support they needed to turn those ideas into a program of their own.

💪 Built by youth. Created by youth. Led by youth. Implemented by youth.
From beginning to end, young people are at the center.

And what better way to mark this milestone? Today was also the first day of implementation with the launch of our Youth Soccer Academy! ⚽

This is only the beginning. Stay tuned — there is much more to come from our youth! 🌟
