May is also Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and we’re highlighting the inspiring people who walked in last year’s Celebration of Hope — including black flag bearer, Sara.

A four-time cancer survivor, Sara was first diagnosed with breast cancer at 42 before later battling Stage 4 metastatic melanoma three separate times beginning at age 49. Through it all, she continued to fight with resilience and hope. Thanks to the care she received at Roswell Park, she has been cancer-free since 2014.

Today, Sara cherishes time with her husband, daughters and three beautiful grandbabies who lovingly call her “Nana.” Last year, she proudly carried the black flag in celebration of survivorship, strength and the power of hope🖤

In honor of Brain Cancer Awareness Month, we’re highlighting the people who walked in last year’s Celebration of Hope — including gray flag bearer, Laura.

In March 2022, Laura was diagnosed with neuroblastoma and underwent brain and sinus surgery followed by radiation treatment. Just four months later, she was declared “no evidence of disease.”

Laura is forever grateful to Dr. Fenstermaker, Dr. McSpadden, and every member of the team who helped save her life throughout her journey. Last year, she proudly walked beside her husband, Joe, as a symbol of strength, resilience and hopeđź’™

Ride for Roswell is striving to get 4,500 riders registered by Monday, May 18. If we reach that goal, we’ll unlock a $100,000 matching gift. That means a dollar-for-dollar match for fundraisers like you until the $100,000 is up!

If we reach our goal, the match will be available this month. The official start time will be announced via email and on social media.

This opportunity is not just about the number of riders or the dollars raised. It’s about what comes next. By joining the Ride Community, your fundraising efforts fuel lifesaving cancer research and patient care programs at Roswell Park. Let’s rally our friends and family members to be a part of our mission to end cancer.
