United Way of Buffalo & Erie County’s Day of Caring 2026 was amazing!

Before, when you were standing in our kitchen and looking out our big window, you were looking at a big, sad, empty brick wall and a ground full of weeds and invasive trees. NOW, when you are standing in our kitchen and looking out our big window, you are going to see a clean ground and a big, beautiful, colorful brick wall. These small changes make a big difference!

Today, our office is closed in observance of Juneteenth. We honor and recognize that this day holds incredible historical and cultural significance in the celebration of freedom and justice, and that the work for racial equity is still ongoing.

In the U.S. more than 50% of families experiencing homelessness are Black. In Western New York alone, Black individuals make up approximately 11% of the population, but are 3x more likely to experience homelessness. Our team is committed to continually breaking down the barriers that perpetuate this reality for Black individuals and families in our community and beyond.

We are looking forward to our Annual Summer Homecoming Picnic and are looking for 10 volunteers! This is a great volunteer opportunity for students, families, individuals, or groups.

Volunteers are needed for set up, activity station supervision, and clean up.

🗓Saturday, July 25th
⏰Event is run from 12pm-2pm, volunteers are needed from 11am-3pm

If you walk through our building, you'll find trees that have grown full of handprints over the years!

Miss Hannah, our Children's Coordinator, helped some of our families paint their own family trees the other week. They filled their trees with handprints and written notes about what they were thankful for ❤🌳
