Meet Halima, a mother from Mbale, Uganda with her new solar light. ✨ Compared to the small, costly flashlights Halima was using, her powerful solar light helps her care for her baby while saving money without using toxic batteries that end up in burn pits or trash heaps.

What do solar lights have to do with malaria prevention? Great question. πŸ’‘

It's a simple connection: Many off-grid families don't use insecticide treated bednets to prevent malaria because of the very real and serious fire hazards in homes using kerosene lamps or candles for lighting. When families have a solar light, they readily use their anti-malarial bednets to protect themselves. And, we've got the data to back that up!
