This marks 14 years that we have honored the “unsung heroines” in our community. These remarkable “women in leadership” help inspire others to follow in their path. Please join us as we honor Becky Brubaker and Simone Ragland!

The evening will also include installation of the chapter’s 2026/2027 officers and an auction benefiting its “Women Helping Women” partner, the Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network.

State President-Elect, Patti Layton, gave a great interview about the organization and upcoming state conference. It is shaping up to be an amazing event with a fantastic lineup including Buffalo's own, Amanda Popovski, as the keynote speaker. Definitely consider attending!

TBC Photo has a new workshop coming up - check it out!

My first cellphone photo class was such a big hit and people are asking me "When is the next one??"

Tuesday, June 2nd, 5:30-7pm at Actual Books in Kenmore 🎉

This class will focus on photographing objects (product photography), but you'll also learn about your cellphone camera's settings to enhance all of your photos.

If you post on social media or sell items online (on Etsy, Ebay, Facebook Marketplace...) Do you make art? Sell jewelry, or books, or mugs?
Then this is the class for you!

I'm limiting the class size to 6 people so everyone gets individual attention.
And I've extended the class time to 90 minutes so everyone has time to practice, ask questions, and get answers.

Bring some items to photograph and you will walk away with a bunch of images you can use, as well as ideas and better skills to take more interesting images in the future!

This class is called Cellphone Photography: How to take better photos of the products you sell.

Simone Ragland, LMSW
CEO of Bits and Bytes STEM Foundation

As CEO of Bits and Bytes STEM Foundation Simone is passionate about STEM and strives to make a lasting and positive difference. The Bits and Bytes STEM Foundation provides equitable access to high-quality STEM learning for underserved youth – especially girls, non-binary youth, and youth of color – by addressing racial and gender disparities and partnering with schools and community organizations to create meaningful opportunities.

Simone is CEO of Bits and Bytes STEM Foundation, an adjunct assistant professor at ECC, and co-founder/CEO of Families Aimed Toward Excellence (FATE). She also works with the Buffalo Urban League as a licensed master social worker. She was formerly the executive director of WNY STEM Hub.

She serves on the board of directors for NYS Network for Youth Success as well as Locust Street Art. Simone has a Master of Social Work (LMSW) from UB and a Bachelor’s of Science from SUNY Empire State College.
