When attending Northland Workforce Training Center, not only will you receive the training necessary to have a successful career, but you’ll also be able to connect directly with employers who are actively hiring!

Yesterday, we hosted a Lunch & Learn featuring local manufacturers such as Calspan, Mokon, Niagara Power Transformer, Taber Industries, and more. Representatives from each shared information about available positions and took questions from students.

Having a strong partnership with local manufacturers is important to creating pathways to employment, and we’d like to thank these companies for taking the time to engage with our students and discuss their available opportunities.

Area Development recently featured Northland Workforce Training Center on its podcast episode, “The Infrastructure Bet: Three Stories About Where American Industry Is Being Rebuilt.”

On this episode, Northland Workforce Training Center President & CEO Stephen Tucker discusses our new clean energy lab, which will prepare students for careers as building maintenance technicians. This program is expected to launch this fall.

Northland will also open the Western New York Clean Energy Experience Center, where policymakers, entrepreneurs and community members can explore how energy is generated, transmitted, and distributed.

We want to thank Area Development for highlighting our mission to prepare local residents for careers in advanced manufacturing and clean energy while helping build the workforce of the future.

Here at Northland Workforce Training Center, construction has been underway on a new training space for our upcoming Building Maintenance Technician program, anticipated to begin in the fall.

This article from Buffalo Business First highlights Northland’s receipt of $4.2 million in grants and sponsorships for a new clean technology lab that will have a “building inside a building,” according to President & CEO Stephen Tucker. This innovative training environment will provide students with hands-on experience and prepare them for careers as building maintenance technicians.

“The big commercial developers, like Uniland or Benderson, need building technicians to check on their buildings or if there’s an issue with the heating or plumbing. Developers, but also municipalities, schools or hospitals, need building engineers, and we don’t have enough of them for all the commercial buildings we have,” Tucker said.

The article also highlights our continued expansion of short-term training programs to meet industry demand. As of June 30, 2026, Northland job placements have generated more than $200 million in wages added to the local economy.

The Northland Workforce Training Center in Buffalo is constructing a $4.2 million space for a new building maintenance program.
