Village Legacy Keepers is stepping into a powerful season of growth. We are preparing to travel to the Omega Institute for leadership training, and this trip means more to me than I can express. I will have the honor of learning directly from Mama Shafia Monroe, a cultural mother in Black birthwork and one of the most influential leaders in our field. Her teachings shaped the foundation of modern Black midwifery and doula leadership. Being able to sit with her in person is a blessing and a moment of alignment I have waited for.
The Omega Institute is a place that feels like retreat. It is peaceful, grounding, and designed for transformation. Being in that environment while learning from Mama Shafia creates a powerful combination of rest, renewal, and elevation. It is exactly what we need to grow as a leaders and to expand the work we offer to families, doulas, and caregivers.
