Twelve architecturally significant properties will be open to visitors during the Historic Linwood Tour of Homes, sponsored by the Linwood Preservation District and Friends Assn., Sunday May 4 from noon to 5 pm. Whether built as a grand turn of the century home and then converted to a different use years later, each property is unique in its own way.
Interiors have handcrafted woodwork, beautiful leaded/stained glass windows, restored wooden floors, elaborate staircases and other features that present a feel of quiet luxury and exquisite craftsmanship. Most have undertone extensive restoration, with some continuing as renovation works in progress.
Properties on the tour will show how Linwood Avenue exemplifies a streetscape of Buffalo history.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 the day of the tour. Additional information and advance ticket purchase is at http://www.historiclinwood.org.
