🌱 Week two of building planter boxes!

This week, our youth continued building on the skills—and confidence—they started last week. They got more comfortable using the miter saw and added a staple gun to their growing toolkit.

But what we love most is watching the confidence grow right alongside the project. With each week, youth get another opportunity to learn something new, work alongside positive adults, and experience what they’re capable of.

One teacher shared this with us:

“Breath of fresh air seeing you guys on the docket for the day. You guys are really making a difference in the lives of these kids.”

That means so much to us. ❤️

We’re grateful for the teachers and volunteers who continue to make space for these moments—and for every opportunity to connect with youth through building together.

Our youth got hands-on with the miter saw, learning how to make both crosscuts and miter cuts. They also practiced using a tape measure and speed square with the help of our amazing volunteers.

But the tools are only part of the story. ❤️

We’re incredibly grateful for the volunteers who show up week after week. They take the time to teach, encourage, listen, and celebrate the small wins.

That consistency matters. It’s how trust is built. It’s how confidence grows. And it’s how we create spaces where youth feel seen, heard, and valued.

Safety. No pressure. Have fun. Our three values we talk about at the beginning of every workshop.

Today we spent the workshops going over Miter Saw safety and a lesson.

🎉 We’re getting ready to kick off a new school year!

In just a couple of weeks, we’ll be back at our partner schools, welcoming new and returning students into the Legacy 2 Inspire workshop.

We can’t wait to build new projects, make new memories, and—most importantly—build meaningful connections with youth across our communities.

Here’s to another year of connecting with youth through building together!
