The Rotary Club of Buffalo connected with the younger generation this week, hosting students and teachers from Lorraine Academy and hearing from a Rotary Youth Exchange student.
Lorraine Academy and Buffalo Rotary have a 35 year partnership in mentoring which has been very rewarding on both sides of the partnership.
We also heard from Alix Hougardy, an exchange student from Awans, Belgium. Alix was enthusiastic to share the incredible experiences she has had while attending City Honors, participating in Sports like skiing and track and attending both Bills and Sabres games.
Buffalo Rotary is proud to contribute $2500 to the Rotary Youth Exchange Program!

We are casting the Buffalo Rotary Spotlight today on new member Nick Bond, CEO of Buffalo’s Red Cross.

Nick Bond was named to the Red Cross top spot in November 2021 after a long history of serving the YMCA in various locations around WNY from Niagara Falls to the Southtowns.

A native of Lockport, Bond began his tenure with the YMCA in 2005 as Program Director for the Delaware Family Branch, where he managed school-aged childcare, youth and adult sports, and summer day camp programs. Just two years later, he was promoted to Senior Program Director for Family, Teen, Sports and Camp for the Southtowns Family YMCA, assuming responsibility for operations of six department areas including supervision of staff, participant recruitment and budget controls.

Nick is a family man – married to Maria Bond – and the father of two children. They make their home in East Aurora.
