✈️ Buffalo City Cadets Take Flight!

This weekend cadets from our Buffalo City Units had the opportunity to complete their Civil Air Patrol Orientation Flights, experiencing aviation firsthand while flying with CAP pilots.

These flights are a core part of the CAP cadet aerospace program and give students the chance to learn about aerodynamics, navigation, and the fundamentals of flight from the cockpit.

We’re proud to recognize the cadets who flew:

Buffalo City Units | Week in Review

It was a great week across the Buffalo City Units!

At NY-615 Buffalo Guardians, cadets focused on Customs and Courtesies, learning how to formally report and putting their skills to the test in an exciting Drill Off. Cadets also had the opportunity to observe C/CMSgt L. Shaw’s Mitchell Board, giving younger cadets insight into the dedication required to reach this important milestone.

At NY-614 Buffalo Creek, cadets explored Aerospace Education, learning about different types of force and energy before participating in the hands-on Eggstronaut Challenge, where teams designed creative ways to protect an egg during impact.

At NY-616 Path Carver, cadets also focused on Customs and Courtesies, with cadet leaders teaching the squadron how to formally report and strengthening professionalism and military bearing across the unit.

Another outstanding week of leadership, aerospace education, and character development across the Buffalo City Units!

Excellent Meeting with Path Carver Cadet Squadron (NY-616)!

We had a fantastic meeting tonight focused on Aerospace Education. After learning about key STEM concepts such as potential energy, kinetic energy, force, and impact, cadets put their knowledge into action.

Cadets worked in teams to design and build their own reentry vehicles to protect their “Eggstronauts.” Each team then tested their designs in an egg-drop challenge to see whether their spacecraft could safely land its astronaut.

I’m happy to report that most Eggstronauts survived their missions! 🚀🥚

Activities like this help cadets connect real aerospace and engineering concepts with hands-on problem solving, teamwork, and creativity.

Great work tonight, cadets!
