A few weeks ago, our administrative staff made their way to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the Chorus America Conference! This is the largest gathering of professional conductors, directors, singers, and board members in the country, and we are so glad to be members of Chorus America!

We got to work with amazing composers and conductors like Libby Larsen and Abbie Betinis, attend amazing concerts with performances by VocalEssence, Cantus, and One Voice Mixed Chorus, attend sessions about fundraising, community engagement, and singer recruitment, and so much more! We even ran into some familiar faces, including Dr. Brian Stevens, who just prepared the BPC for our performance of Carmina Burana with the BPO last month!

We are excited to take some of these ideas and put them to work in Buffalo!

Now that our 2025-26 season has wrapped up, we thought it was time to introduce you to our new Music Director, Dr. Vernon Huff!

Did you know that we have 26 outstanding High School singers joining us for our performances of Carmina Burana? Each year, we invite Juniors and Seniors from across the region to rehearse and perform with us under the baton of Maestro Falletta and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra!

Earlier this month, we were honored to have Joshua Conyers, a GRAMMY nominated baritone, faculty member at the Eastman School of Music, and the baritone soloist for Carmina Burana, join these students for a masterclass presentation, where 2 of the students performed for him, getting tips and vocal techniques from him!

We are so excited to be presenting Carmina Burana with these incredible young singers, and we hope you come and hear them THIS WEEKEND!

We had such a blast this past weekend performing Patriotic Pops with the BPO! It is always a treat to join them during the Memorial Day weekend. The featured soloists, Colleen Williams and Sal Andolina, were incredible and it was a pleasure to share the stage with them.

Next up is our final performances of the 2025-26 season, when we will perform the thrilling story of Carmina Burana! Please join us this Saturday, May 30 at 7:30 PM or Sunday, May 31 at 2:30 with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra to present this unmistakable masterpiece!

We've always felt that singing keeps your body and mind sharp, but it's great to be able to prove it! Here's just a few photos of us staying young through the 2025-26 season!

O Fortuna!

We hope you enjoy this sneak peek of the incredible first moments of Carmina Burana, a complaint about Fortuna, the Roman goddess of fortune and luck!

We are thrilled to be performing Carmina Burana May 30-31 at Kleinhans Music Hall with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and 3 amazing soloists!

Carmina Burana is based on a series of poems of the same name from the 11th-13th centuries. These satirical poems were written by the Goliards, a group of young clergymen who wrote these poems in protest of the Catholic Church. The most famous of the Goliards is someone know only as the "Archpoet."

Orff selected 24 of the 254 poems in the collection to set to music and dance, though most performances now do not involve choreography.

You can come hear us perform Carmina Burana with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31 at Kleinhans Music Hall!

We've had a wonderful time working through Carmina Burana, but we've found ourselves wondering:

Who is Carl Orff?

As a composer, Orff created the widely performed and recorded choral work Carmina Burana. As an educator, he produced an influential elementary music curriculum that emphasized the elements explored in his compositions.
