Why get your soil screened for lead?🤔

🪱 80% of the housing stock in Buffalo is built before 1960, the cutoff date when lead paint could still be used on homes. This aging infrastructure combined with a history of demolition by neglect has resulted in high instances of lead exposure in and out of homes. In fact, 9 zip codes in Buffalo are considered “Communities of Concern” by the NYS Dept. of Health.

🪱Airborne particless and soil particles on unwashed hands, tools, and food pose the greatest risk of exposure to lead.

🪱But there’s no need for concern - thru screening you can learn what your soil holds to better develop practices and tools to reduce your exposure to lead and other heavy metals.
