Today we stopped by J12S at Golisano Children's Hospital of Buffalo with a few special deliveries. 🎗️

We restocked the Parent Lounge with coffee, creamers, cups, biscotti and other supplies for the parents spending their days and nights beside their children. ☕️💛

We brought subs and cupcakes for the amazing doctors, nurses and staff who take care of our kids every single day. We are so thankful for everything they do.

And of course, we couldn’t forget our incredible little warriors. 🧁 Cupcakes were delivered just for them, with hopes of bringing a few extra smiles to their day.

None of this would be possible without the amazing, constant support we receive from our community. Every donation, every fundraiser, every purchase, every share and every person who continues to stand behind Sophia’s mission allows us to keep showing up for these children, families and caregivers.

We are getting ready for our Annual Sophia the Fierce Halloween Silent Disco on October 24th, and we are looking for some amazing local businesses to partner with us this year!

September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, and this year we’re asking our entire community to come together and GO GOLD for our kids.

On September 3rd, we will gather at Amherst Town Hall for a proclamation ceremony officially recognizing September as Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month — honoring every child who has fought, every child who is fighting, and every child who will face this battle.

Now we’re asking our local businesses, organizations, schools, families, and neighbors to help us LIGHT UP GOLD throughout September. 💛

Our daughter, Sophia Brielle Benintende, battled cancer for two years. Even while fighting her own battle, Sophia wanted to help the local friends she met along the way.

Before gaining her angel wings on May 9, 2023, Sophia started Sophia the Fierce Inc. to do just that.

Today, we continue the mission she began. 💛

Sophia the Fierce, Inc. was founded by Sophia Benintende, at just 8 years old. She became a fierce advocate for pediatric cancer warriors. Even while fighting her own battle with cancer, Sophia dedicated herself to helping others. Sophia passed away in May of 2023 after a two-year battle with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Her family and friends carry on her mission of providing 💛 respite, 💛 research and 💛 relief for children and families facing pediatric cancer.

🦇 RESPITE
Thanks to supporters like you, Sophia’s organization is working toward Sophia’s dream of purchasing a respite home where families and caregivers can enjoy much needed time together. Until then, Sophia the Fierce, Inc. continues to provide day and weekend getaways, giving families the chance to step away from hospitals and appointments.

🦇 RESEARCH
With your support, they are funding groundbreaking research led by Dr. Joyce Ohm at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. This trial focuses on rare pediatric cancers, including Ewing Sarcoma, to develop safer, more effective treatments for children.

🦇 RELIEF
Sophia the Fierce, Inc. provides direct financial relief to families. Over the past three years this organization has supported 💛 over 90 local families 💛 with everything from past due medical bills, gift cards for food, housing payments and more!

When Sophia was fighting cancer, she wanted people to understand what kids like her were going through. She wanted childhood cancer to be seen, talked about and given the attention it deserves.

Because of her voice, the Town of Amherst began going GOLD for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, and seeing this tradition continue in her memory is something our family will never take for granted. 💛

On Thursday, September 3rd at 7:00 PM, we will gather on the front steps of Amherst Town Hall as they light Town Hall GOLD in honor of every child who has fought, is still fighting, and every child we carry with us. 🎗️

We would love to have our Fierce Supporters there with us. Come wear GOLD, bring your family, and stand beside us as we continue to use Sophia’s voice and legacy to fight for these kids.

There really aren’t enough words to say thank you.

To everyone who came out to the Sophia the Fierce 5th Annual Lemonade Stand this past Saturday and rolled up their sleeves to donate blood in memory of our founder and guiding light, Sophia Brielle, thank you. Truly. ❤️

For those of us who have walked alongside a child fighting cancer, we know just how important blood donations can be. Children in active cancer treatment can need multiple blood transfusions throughout their fight. Behind every unit of blood is a child who needs it, a parent praying for them, and a family hoping for more time together.

Because of all of you, 16 units of blood were collected, helping save the lives of 48 local patients.

It means 48 people, 48 families, and 48 more chances to keep fighting.

Sophia knew what it felt like to be the child fighting cancer. She knew how scary those days could be, and she also knew how much it meant when people showed up and helped. She spent her life looking for ways to make things better for someone else, and that is exactly what you did in her memory.

You showed up at her Lemonade Stand.
You rolled up your sleeves.
You gave something that could help save a life.

And now, because of you, someone you may never meet has a better chance to keep fighting. ❤️

Thank you for showing up for Sophia. Thank you for believing in her. And thank you for helping us continue her legacy in one of the most meaningful ways possible.

Sophia would be so proud. 💛🌻

🌈🍋 AFTER EVERY STORM COMES A RAINBOW, AND SATURDAY, THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. 💛🌻

We woke up to storms, rain, and a whole lot of uncertainty. We even had to delay Sophia’s Lemonade Stand by an hour. And We’re not going to lie, there was definitely some panic. 😂🌧️

But we kept saying, “We’re still making lemonade out of lemons.” Because that is what Sophia would do. 🍋

The clouds opened up, the sun came out, and Sophia the Fierce 5th Annual Lemonade Stand turned into such a beautiful day. 🌻💛

And just like that, our community showed up. There really are no words to describe how grateful we are.

From the moment we opened until the very last cup of lemonade was poured, you showed up for Sophia. You showed up for local families fighting childhood cancer. You showed up for our mission.

To our amazing volunteers who showed up Friday night for setup, came early Saturday morning, worked throughout the day, jumped in wherever they were needed, and stayed late to help us clean up , THANK YOU. 💛

This Lemonade Stand started with one little girl and a simple idea.Sophia wanted to help other kids fighting cancer. Five years later, her little lemonade stand has grown into a day filled with hundreds of people, countless smiles, and a community coming together to continue the mission she started. 🍋🌻

Saturday was another reminder of just how powerful Sophia’s little idea has become. She may not be here to pour the lemonade, greet everyone as they walked in, or run around enjoying all the things she helped create. But her heart is still here.

It’s in every child who smiled Saturday. It’s in every family we are able to help. It’s in every volunteer who gives their time. It’s in every business that says, “How can we help?” It’s in every person who walks through the fairway because they heard about a little girl named Sophia. And it’s in every person who continues to believe that even in the middle of something heartbreaking, we can still choose to make something beautiful and turn pain into purpose. 💛

We may have started Saturday with a storm, but we ended it with a rainbow. 🌈

And we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful way to honor Sophia and every child and family facing pediatric cancer.

Thank you for helping us keep her light shining. Thank you for helping us continue her mission of Respite. Research. Relief.

And thank you for reminding us, once again, that no matter what life throws our way, we can always make lemonade out of lemons. 🍋💛
