lanoma and Cancer research. In June of 2020, at the age of 36, James went to the dermatologist for the first time to get a spot check on the left side of his face. It turned out to be Melanoma and by the time he went in for surgery to remove the initial site, it had already progressed to Stage III. He had 2 surgeries and a year of immunotherapy treatment, which kept the cancer at bay until early 2022 when a CT scan revealed that the cancer had come back, this time in the lymph nodes in his neck and chest, progressing to stage 4. He underwent another round of immunotherapy treatment, which successfully halted the spread of the cancer for now. Melanoma is a growing global health problem, with more than 91,000 new cases diagnosed each year in the United States. Its ability to spread widely and quickly to other body parts makes melanoma the deadliest of all skin cancers. It can strike anyone, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or age. Alarmingly, melanoma is one of the most common forms of cancer diagnosed in young adults, and the most common cancer diagnosed in people aged 25-29. Despite recent scientific progress, patients with metastatic melanoma still face a grim outlook. In the United States alone, over 9,000 people die from melanoma each year.

We saw this shirt from the amazing 26 Shirts and wanted to share and encourage our followers to buy a shirt to support Finn Graham, a fellow melanoma survivor in Western New York.

“At just 17 years old, Finn was diagnosed with Stage 3B Metastatic Melanoma. Since then, he has undergone multiple surgeries on his neck, including a radical neck dissection to remove all lymph nodes, and continues to receive immunotherapy treatments every three weeks.

Now 19, Finn is a student at SUNY Niagara, where he is also a proud member of the school’s golf team. Staying close to home allows him to continue treatment and receive the continuous monitoring his condition requires, but his goal is to transfer to a four-year university once he beats this disease.

Throughout all of the challenges of the past year and a half, Finn has shown incredible strength and determination. Funds raised through this campaign will help cover the mounting out-of-pocket medical expenses from his ongoing cancer treatment. “

We wish Finn and all those battling melanoma all the best and will continue our work to fund research to develop new treatments and cures for this devastating disease.

Hard to beat this time of year in Buffalo with football and hockey. NEW "Helmets and Swords" now available! Presented by West Herr Auto Group, all sales of this design for the next two weeks benefit Finn Graham.

At the F Melanoma Foundation we’re proud to join the pink ribbon movement and remind everyone that while we focus often on skin cancer, we’re also watching and caring for overall health. Early detection saves lives — and self-checks can help you stay aware of changes in your body.
Here’s a quick checklist of self-exams to consider:
💗Breast
💜Testicular
💙Oral
🖤Skin
Most self exams are recommended on a monthly basis but as always consult your doctor to determine what is right for you based on risk.
