ISO: The Flour-by-Rail Legacy Project team has been looking for a 25-ft extension ladder for just about as long as we've been in the old boxcar business. If anyone has such a ladder they can donate, it could just be dropped off at the boxcar. 630 Ohio Street, Buffalo.

Let us know in the comments or via DM ahead of time is all we ask. Thank you to everybody out there, and watch for the leaves, they get slippery.

A good roof is everything and our hats off to Conrail, CSX, and before all that the hard-working Buffaloians at the Buffalo Creek Rwy. for their 70 years of keeping the roof tight on this 40 ft bundle of joy before your friends at the Buffalo, USA Foundation got to it. Usually old box cars the first thing you got to do is patch a bunch of steel down at the frame where the roof leaked. Not so for us, and we're fortunate for that.

This month we are doing the evaluation, prep, patching, priming and painting to get the BCK 1424 back to her original silver, light refracting roof ahead of full repaint in the summer of 2026. Ohio St., just south of Silo City Row. Come say hello.

This is a very sudden loss of a good man who helped out with the fbrlp in our earliest days of getting things going and dreaming of boxcars and switchers. RIP, Chipper!

The Buffalo, USA Foundation is soliciting donation of a gently-used or ancient but fully-functional table saw for our efforts at restoring Buffalo Creek PS-1 boxcar No. 1424. Our specific aim is to cut new interior boards to replace missing or corroded plywood wall boards.

Separate of this, we are always looking for volunteers with this skill set that we can meet on site at Silo City for the work of cutting and installing the boards. You would have plenty of skilled support staff in this venture and make your mark on a cutting edge project in one of the more proactive revitalizations of our fair city.

Please comment below or shoot us a DM if you have any leads on a table saw or a skilled craftsman that can bring their own!

This week, we began the work of preparing Buffalo Creek Alco S2 No. 46 for her journey to a new home in Western New York, where she will be permanently preserved and restored. A huge thank you to the team at Saratoga Corinth & Hudson Railway for their last-minute, expert work in getting her air brake system ready. Their on-the-fly expertise ensured this icon of the Buffalo waterfront is prepared for what we trust will be the final relocation move of her eight-decade career.

Happy 78th birthday to No. 46, built in February 1947. Let’s keep working together to ensure she’s ready for the celebration on July 4th next year—and that she reaches her 100th year with nothing behind her but history and everything in front of her.

Fundraising continues via GoFundMe (link below) and every little bit helps maintain the viability of this iconic locomotive.

Tomorrow is the Buffalo Creek Railroad's 156th birthday, and we've got our measurements and identified the replacement product for the water damaged missing or otherwise unsolvent wood for the interior of BCK 1424. With the roof repaired and only awaiting a slathering of silver paint, we are ready for a springtime restoration of the interior wood to Pullman-Standard...standards.

Historic imagery courtesy of the Pullman archives at Illinois Railway Museum. They and we are unsure if the steel grating by The doors was ever applied or not. Anyone with solutions to that mystery is welcome to comment!
