Philip Glick, MD, MBA, knows that today’s surgeons need business skills in addition to their medical training. 📁

Now, the Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences - University at Buffalo surgery professor has launched a new endowed lecture series at the school focusing on what he calls BOS, or the business of surgery.

Glick says that in order to optimize their career opportunities, surgeons today need a broad range of business skills, including leadership, finance, health care policy, human resources, big data and outcomes, marketing, accounting, negotiations and contracts, corporate and social responsibility, sustainability, and more.

Mark Talamini, senior vice president of Northwell Health and executive director of Northwell Health Physician Partners, will give the inaugural lecture in the series at 6:45 a.m. on June 4 in the M&T Auditorium at the Jacobs School.
