Zeneta & Zaire's Book Club Reading Nook now has a permanent home in our Scott Bieler Center for Academic Excellence. 📚

Alumna & Councilwoman Zeneta B. Everhart & her son, Zaire, a former student, cut the ribbon on the new space this week, marking its official opening.

Yesterday, Zeneta & Zaire’s Book Club teamed up with Buffalo Bills defensive back Ja’Marcus Ingram to celebrate the launch of his debut book, The Lil’ Player That Could.

This special event at the Boys & Girls Club highlighted the power of literacy and community. Huge thanks to Ja’Marcus for inspiring our youth and to the Boys & Girls Club, the Buffalo Bills Foundation, and everyone who made this event unforgettable! 📚💙

Big News! ‼️ I'm ecstatic to announce my Summer Essay Project for students in the City of Buffalo!

As the chair of the Buffalo Common Council Education Committee, I'm thrilled to launch my first-ever Summer Essay Project. This exciting initiative aims to foster a love for reading and writing among students from 5th grade through high school in the City of Buffalo.

Here's how it works:
📚 Registration: Students can register starting TODAY, June 18th via: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfLFFnZzNBx3RWx6Ql622wnILlW7TKgUGUZ4aCiiNtyaiSPrQ/viewform

📖 Free Book Selection: Starting July 1st, selected books and essay prompts will be available at local libraries. Students can pick up a FREE book that matches their age group and keep it!

📝 Handwritten Essay Submission: After reading their chosen book, students will write a two-page essay by hand. Essays can be submitted at local libraries starting August 1st, with the final deadline on August 31st.

Two winners will be selected from the 5th to 8th grade group, and two from the high school group. Winners will be honored at the Buffalo Common Council Education Committee meeting on Tuesday, September 24th. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to enhance your reading and writing skills this summer!

As the mother of a child on the Autism Spectrum it was an honor to participate in today’s book reading with Kirby's Korner, Inc. I met this beautiful soul years ago as we both worked to create a mentoring program at Future’s Academy, and now she’s a whole Author!! D is for Different celebrates children with all abilities.
