The agenda for Beyond the Disclosure is here. đź‘€
You’ve seen the announcement. Now see what the day looks like.

On November 10, we’re bringing together survivors, clinicians, and forensic experts for one full day focused on what’s often missed when abuse and trafficking happen inside the family.

Swipe to see the full lineup ➡️

Here’s a taste of what we’ll cover:
🔹 Why the child doesn’t always look like the victim systems expect
🔹 How coercive control and high-control environments limit a child’s access to help
🔹 Forensic interviewing that doesn’t rely on the “perfect disclosure”
🔹 Why dissociation becomes necessary when a caregiver is also the danger
🔹 How revictimization happens and how recovery happens
🔹 How child-serving systems can work together to see the full picture

🎉 IT’S OFFICIAL: Continuing Education is APPROVED!

We are thrilled to announce that Beyond the Disclosure: A National Virtual Symposium has been approved for 5 Continuing Education credits for social work professionals!

If you’ve been waiting for Continuing Education approval before registering—this is your sign. 💛

Join Mezzo Allies and an incredible multidisciplinary group of survivor leaders and professionals for a full day of learning that goes beyond simply recognizing trafficking.

We’re going deeper.

Into family-controlled human trafficking.
Into coercive control and barriers to disclosure.
Into dissociation and complex trauma.
Into forensic interviewing.
Into the “second wound” that can happen when trauma responses are misunderstood.
And into what professionals can do differently when a child’s story doesn’t look the way we expect it to.

Because recognizing exploitation is only the beginning.

We LOVE what we do. đź’ś
Today, as we were speaking at a conference in North Carolina, I took a moment to step back and look out at the room. And I just felt grateful.
Grateful for the people who show up. Who listen. Who are willing to learn and challenge what they thought they knew.
Grateful for my co-founder and partner in this work, Laurie. For the privilege of standing beside her, doing work we both believe in so deeply.
We have the incredible opportunity to travel across the country, speaking at conferences, symposiums, and trainings, connecting with people who are doing the hard work of helping victims and children find safety.
And every single time, we are reminded of WHY this work matters.
After we speak, professionals share how they are beginning to look at their cases differently. They reflect on children they have worked with in the past, wondering if family-controlled trafficking may have been happening without anyone recognizing it. They tell us about children they are working with RIGHT NOW, and how something they heard has helped them recognize that there may be more happening beneath the surface.
THIS. This is EVERYTHING.
Because when professionals take what we share and put it into practice, children who may have otherwise gone unseen have a greater chance of being recognized, believed, and protected.
We know this work is heavy. We know the conversations are difficult. But getting to stand in rooms filled with people who are willing to listen, learn, and do things differently?
That will never feel like a burden.
It is always, ALWAYS a privilege. đź’ś

What if the trafficking we’ve been trained to recognize isn’t the trafficking happening in front of us?

Family-controlled human trafficking can look very different from the models many professionals have been taught.

There may be no obvious recruitment. No stranger or romantic partner pulling a child away from their family. And a child will rarely identify themselves as a victim of trafficking.

Instead, they may disclose what they have words for:

S3xual abuse.

The question becomes: Do we know how to recognize when there may be more beneath that disclosure?

And recognition is only the beginning.

When professionals don’t understand complex trauma, dissociation, attachment, coercive control, and the survival responses children develop within these environments, the systems meant to help can unintentionally cause further harm.

Beyond the Disclosure brings professionals from across disciplines together for a full day focused on family-controlled exploitation—and how we can better recognize it, respond to it, and reduce further harm.

Because we can’t identify family-controlled trafficking if we’re only looking for the trafficking we’ve been taught to expect.

⏳ Early-bird pricing ends September 15. Register now for $69.99 before registration increases to $79.99.

✨ Something New Is Coming…

For a long time, we’ve dreamed of creating a space where survivor voices, professional expertise, and practical education come together to change how we recognize and respond to some of the most hidden forms of abuse.

Today, we’re excited to finally share it with you.

Introducing Beyond the Disclosure—Mezzo Allies’ inaugural national symposium.

This one-day virtual event will bring together survivor leaders, clinicians, researchers, forensic interviewers, victim advocates, and multidisciplinary professionals from across the country to explore family-controlled human trafficking, organized abuse, complex trauma, and child protection through a survivor-led, clinician-informed lens.

This symposium is about more than education.

It’s about seeing what others miss.
Changing how professionals respond.
Building systems that better protect children and support survivors.

🎟 Registration opens August 15.

We’re also looking for Founding Sponsors to help launch what we hope will become a leading annual educational event. If your business or organization is interested in partnering with us, we’d love to connect.

This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to share more with you in the weeks ahead.

Together, we’re going beyond the disclosure.

If “60 mile walk” made you scroll past this… I get it.

It sounds like a lot.
Like something you don’t have time for.
Like something you might fail at.

But that’s not what this is.

This is 60 miles of movement—over an entire month.
On your terms. In your life. However you can show up.

And more than anything…
this is about using that movement to say something that too often goes unsaid.

Because what we see every day is this:

Children being harmed and exploited
by the very people meant to protect them.

And it’s missed.
Over and over again.

This walkathon is how we change that—together.

We’ll give you the words.
We’ll give you the tools.
You just have to take the first step.
