⚓ Mass Communications Training Update ⚓

While we are still awaiting final approval, we are excited to share an important update regarding this summer’s training opportunities.

What was previously offered as a Sea Cadet Mass Communications training has now been transitioned into a Navy League Advanced Training, allowing League Cadets to train as Mass Communication Specialists.

So what does that mean?

A Mass Communication Specialist (MC) is responsible for telling the story of the command. In the Sea Cadet program, this translates to cadets learning how to:

• Capture photo and video during trainings and events
• Write and publish news, social media, and public affairs content
• Conduct interviews and tell the stories of cadets, leaders, and missions
• Support recruiting and community outreach efforts
• Operate as part of a Public Affairs team during exercises and real-world evolutions

This training is designed to closely mirror its U.S. Navy counterpart, giving cadets real, practical experience in public affairs, media production, and strategic communication.

Additionally, due to strong interest and the importance of this capability, we are increasing available slots from the original 4 to 10.

More details will follow upon final approval, but we wanted to get this on your radar early.

⚓ Tell the story. Share the mission.

Following up on our previous update — trainings are still being processed and remain pending release at the national level.

At this time, we have no additional insight into a specific timeline for when remaining trainings, including JSCTC Buffalo, will be published.

We understand the anticipation and are tracking closely alongside you. As soon as information becomes available, we will push it out immediately.

Until then — standby, stay ready, and trust the process.

⚓ Command Update ⚓

Due to rapid expansion, JSCTC operations will now report directly to:

The Department of Extremely Cool Trainings (DECT)

All requests must be submitted in triplicate.

…April Fools 😄

(JSCTC is still very real though… and coming in hot.)

⚓ JSCTC Buffalo – Summer 2026 Training Update ⚓

As many of you track the release of summer trainings, we want to provide a quick update and manage expectations.

It has been indicated that not all trainings will be released today. In the Northeast alone, nearly 100 trainings are still being processed for publication.

What does that mean for us? Simple — if JSCTC Buffalo trainings are not listed today, they will be released later this week.

We remain fully on track and ready to execute a full summer training cycle. This is simply a matter of timing and processing at the national level.

Standby, stay ready, and keep checking back — JSCTC Buffalo is coming.

This winter marks only the second time in the past decade and a half that we haven’t held Winter Training — the other being during COVID. Ironically, that was also the last time circumstances prevented us from rolling out a new curriculum we were excited to put into practice.

While we’re disappointed not to be together this season, we’re thinking of our Winter Training family far and wide — cadets, staff, and friends who have made those cold-weather weeks some of our most memorable and meaningful experiences over the years.

Winter Training has always been about resilience, adaptability, and camaraderie — values that don’t disappear just because a training cycle pauses. If anything, they remind us why those traditions matter.

We’re already looking ahead, and we hope to see everyone back together this summer, stronger and ready for what’s next.

Until then — stay warm, stay sharp, and stay connected.

⚓ Moving Forward — Now with Momentum ⚓

There was never any doubt. JSCTC Buffalo was ready and prepared to move forward this summer — funding or not.

We were fully committed to delivering our complete slate of trainings:

• Recruit Training Command Buffalo
• Food Services
• Petty Officer Leadership Academy (POLA)
• Navy League Orientation (NLO)
• Maritime Expeditionary Security Forces (MESF)
• Mass Communications

Because that’s who we are. Mission first. Cadets first. Always.

Now, we’re excited to share even better news: with the recent restoration of DoD funding, Sea Cadet national training funding has been restored.

That means expanded opportunities, broader access, and many, many national trainings this summer across the program.

We were ready to carry on regardless.
Now, we’re ready to surge forward.
