Last evening, forty of our beloved Community GEMS joined us at Kleinhans for the BPO’s magnificent Gospel Tribute to Richard Smallwood.

The music lifted our spirits, but the fellowship filled our hearts. As we embraced one another, we all agreed: “We needed this!”❤️

Our annual BPO tradition is about more than music. It’s about connection, joy, and pouring back into those who have poured so much into our community...and into us!

A heartfelt thank you to M&T Bank and our generous donors for helping us fill our GEMS’ cups. We love you!

The Resource Council of WNY loves to treat our Community GEMS with experiences that help lift their spirits, build connection and fellowship, and increase their social engagement.

This Friday, at 7:30pm at Kleinhans, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra joins the Buffalo United Community Choir for A Gospel Symphony Tribute to Richard Smallwood - celebrating an artist whose music has brought together gospel, classical tradition, and contemporary sound for generations.

We have a very limited number of complimentary tickets, so if you're interested in attending this wonderful gospel celebration, please inbox me or call 716.783.8259. It's just another small way we like to give back to the GEMS we love to serve!

Due to the holiday yesterday, our Care to Give food distribution will take place today, Tuesday, October 13th, from 11am -1pm.

Thanks to our partnership with Trader Joe's, they are sharing their harvest of unsold but perfectly edible foods with us to distribute to the community!

🍓 Assorted Fruits and Veggies (everything!)
🍞 Delicious Breads, pastry and more!
🥗 Assorted food items from salads, cheeses, wraps, limited amounts meat, and more. Just stop by and say hi!

As always, distribution is first come, first served and while supplies last. Every week is different and we're grateful! All those in need are welcome.

Our All STARS food partners are truly something special! ❤️

Thank you again to Dwight Lowe, Founder and Executive Director of Home Beneath Our Feet, who continues to show up (literally) for our families with bags of fresh, locally-grown produce straight from his farm! We love our Pop-Up Produce Days!

At the Resource Council of WNY, we strive to send our families home with nutritious food at least 2-3xs a week! Feeding our All STARS is very important, but nourishing the families that support them matters just as much! It takes a village...

Thank you, Dwight, for providing our All STAR families with access to nutrient-rich produce! You're helping us plant the seeds of health and wellness, one family at a time. We appreciate you!

Around here, we don't just call them seniors...

We call them our Community GEMS (Generations of Excellence, Mentoring and Strength), and we start off each week, with over 125+ in our building.

Nutritious food. Information. Resources. Outings. Frozen meals. Wellness. Fellowship. Connection.

Our GEMS have spent their lifetime nurturing our families, our homes, and community. It’s our turn, and a privilege, to nurture them every week.

Yesterday kicked off another year of our All STARS Afterschool Program, built around five pillars that guide everything we do at the Resource Council:

📚 LEARN. Strengthening minds and academic confidence.
🏃🏾 MOVE. Keeping our kids active, healthy and engaged.
❤️ THRIVE. Building confidence, wellness and belonging.
🌟 LEAD. Developing their voice, character and leadership.
🌎 EXPLORE. Opening doors to new experiences and possibilities.

Our goal is to provide access to opportunities that may change the trajectory of a child's life.

From homework and tutoring to STEAM, sports, mandatory swim classes, enrichment and dinner, our after school program is designed to pour into every All STAR and give them room to grow!
